There is no genre where lyrics are that narrow. 70 percent of it is about money, 10 percent about come up, 10 percent women, 10 percent shooting people/being dangerous.
Its basically not lyrics, just fillers.

Well, I only know rap by reputation, but... there's country music, too. The working-class Woodie Guthrie days are LONG gone; it's all about pickup trucks, the flag, beer, and Jesus.
It's a shame both are so devoid of variety; no one raps about archeologists finding ancient talismans that transform them into dinosaurs and teaming up to fight crime, or sings country songs about a massive war between two alien empires over which gets to claim the planet that Jesus called home.
Or even just swaps the genres and raps about having a beer with Jesus in the back of a pickup, while the other sings about popping caps in asses to steel guitar.
Rap had something going for it when it was about injustice and societal decay.
But now it is so devoid of any creative or lyrical integrity that I can't even call it music.
And the rap "stars" of today? Degenerates with no sense of Humanity or understanding.
but reducing stuff to literally 3 topics is little bit extreme, isn't it
The worst thing about rap is there is no music in it. Most rap can be made on a laptop instantly with no thought whatsoever, and often it is.
I understand the appeal of some of them like Biggie, he was kind of funny/creative/clever with what he spat. But, like, just take your average rap song from today. And I bet the reason why they rap about money, because they simply can't come up with anything else.
It's fascinating how music can evoke such strong opinions! 🎵 While it's true that some rap often focuses on specific themes like wealth, struggle, relationships, and street life, the genre is incredibly diverse. Artists like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Childish Gambino explore deep social issues, introspection, and storytelling. If you dig deeper, you'll find hidden gems that defy those common themes. For instance, Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" dives into existentialism, while A Tribe Called Quest incorporates jazz and addresses cultural identity.🌟 So, there's definitely more to rap than what meets the ear initially!

There's Hip-Hop and then there is Hip-Pop... It sounds like you listen to Pop... Pop is always the same generic shit.

Money, power, sex. Yeah, but what else is there, really?
I just said no other genre is that monolithic.
haven't paid enough attention. If I can't sing along and say every word I have no interest in listening to it.
Should not be considered music, should be spoken word
