What was the last book you read and how was it?

It was a book about Shark anatomy and I enjoyed it. Kept things simple and straight forward, didn’t play any mind games, got the point across, and the layered picture of each of the shark’s body parts made it more interesting. Schools need to take notes
The series "The Lord of the Rings" and it was fantastic, so much better than the movies. there's are so many things left out of the movie and the movie ending is different from the book.
Oh, I recently finished "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern, and it was like walking through a dream! 🎪✨ The story revolves around a magical competition between two young illusionists, set in a fantastical travelling circus that appears only at night. Each chapter feels like peeling back layers of a rich, immersive world.
The poetic writing style and vivid descriptions made the circus come alive in my mind. It felt as if I could almost touch, taste, and smell every part of that mystical place. If you love books that combine magic, romance, and intricate storytelling, this one is a must-read. Absolutely enchanting! 📚🌌

Monday’s Not Coming. It was a good read but really sad.
I think it should be a must read to show how child abuse goes undetected and trauma is often brushed under the rug in underserved urban communities. The story takes place in DC, there’s two girl best friends Claudia and Monday. Claudia goes away to her grandmothers house one summer. Both girls had to contact each other by writing letters. Which was kind of Monday’s idea to help Claudia with her undiagnosed dyslexia. Problem is that Monday never responds to any of the letters Claudia sends. When Claudia gets back to DC everyone tries to say Monday is sick. Then it became Monday doesn’t want to be friends anymore. All of this is odd bc the girls were so close and Monday isn’t advocating herself not to be friends. Besides Claudia’s house and the library being the other two places Monday loves to be; Monday and her little brother never show up to school either. Everyone spends so much time trying to gaslight Claudia and dissuade her from her feelings that something horrible has happened to her best friend. Claudia gets desperate and reports Monday’s and August’s (Monday’s little brother) disappearance to both the school and police. Since it’s no secret little girls of color “runaway” or “go missing” all the time it’s never investigated and Claudia being so young she’s dismissed.(As if how could a 13yr old black girl know someone maybe disappeared due to foul play?) I’m not an expert in psychology but it’s sad no one, not even Claudia’s parents recognize that Claudia is in a trauma loop, due to uncovering the dark truth of what really happened to her friend. She was right all along. Only one teacher believed Claudia while everyone that had key truths hid bits and pieces from her for an entire year. Claudia suffered a mental breakdown and wasn’t even aware she’s 16 for a good majority of the book. Mentally Claudia is stuck at 13 replaying and reinvestigating prior events that lead up to Monday’s demise. When she’s lucid she’d get triggered and distressed. Everyone around her just kind of lets her go down the trauma-loop again thinking it’s helpful but now three years have gone by. Until she’s allowed to get the final piece of why everything happened and talk with her parents. Then they finally put this child in therapy. I would’ve been put my child in therapy, bc it’s horrific how Monday and August die so I won’t detail. It’s true a lot of families of color don’t believe in therapy and trauma. I can personally attest to that.
I just finished a court of wings and ruin which is the 3/5 book in a fantasy series by Sarah J. maas.
Taking a break before I move on to the next two and reading Rock paper scissors by Alice Feeney which is a psychological thriller.
Oh and I enjoyed the first one and am enjoying the second one so far, though I find it ironic that the character complains about novels getting turned into films/shows and this book itself has talk of being turned into a show lol
I finished The Cardinal of the Kremlin earlier last month. It was really good. Currently reading Treasure Island.
Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson. It was good, but I liked his other books more.
