I see people going for the most powerful piece the queen; certainly the pinks will. The king is vulnerable and has little power and despite gender identification, it is a bit hard to accept.

i chose the knight because whilst it lacks the distance of the bishops or castles, it's L shaped move can be quite devastating. Forking two opponents pieces is sheer joy.
