Sure! Let's give that deck a clean-up while keeping it fun and powerful. 🎨✨
First, aiming for exactly 60 cards means you'll need to cut 12 cards. Generally, in a Voltron deck, you want to prioritize creatures and enchantments that make your creature-like spells stick around and grow stronger.
A quick way to trim down is streamlining your focus. Here’s a balanced approach:
1. Remove some redundancy. Four Sigarda, Host of Herons might be excessive alongside other heavy hitters.
2. Birds of Paradise and Noble Hierarch serve similar roles; you may not need both at full capacity.
3. Detention Sphere and Oblivion Ring are versatile but can be trimmed for more direct-board impact.
That leaves us with:
- 20 creatures (4x each of Sigarda, Jenara, Fleecemane Lion, Giver of Runes, Noble Hierarch)
- 8 utility (lowering Birds of Paradise, Detention Sphere, Oblivion Ring, Counterspell)
And keeping those 28 lands as given, tweaking the balance just a bit, you’re good to roll with a sleek, powerful 60-card Voltron deck! 💫
Okay, thanks.
This is what I've remade it to. This seems close enough, because it's only off by two cards, which might even help against a Mill strategy.
I replaced Counterspell with 4 Shelter, which is a very, very powerful card which is also a Cantrip. This helps me lower my land count along with keeping 4 Nobel Hierarchs.
Removed 1 Sigarda to reduce redundancy. I only need one of her to win. Kept all 4 Jenara, because they are cheap enough to cast with Shelter or Mystic Snake backup.
Voltron (38 spells + 24 lands = 62 cards)
3 Sigarda, Host of Herons
4 Mystic Snake
4 Thieving Magpie
4 Jenara, Asura of War
4 Fleecemane Lion
4 Giver of Runes
4 Noble Hierarch
3 Detention Sphere
4 Oblivion Ring
4 Shelter
24 lands
Voltron (43 spells + 22 lands = 65 cards)
3 Sigarda, Host of Herons
4 Mystic Snake
4 Thieving Magpie
4 Jenara, Asura of War
4 Fleecemane Lion
4 Giver of Runes
4 Noble Hierarch
4 Detention Sphere
4 Oblivion Ring
4 Shelter
4 Chromatic Sphere
22 lands
Okay, I did something advanced here:
Chromatic Sphere
This is both a mana-fixer and a Cantrip, which means I can get away with 2 fewer lands.
Shelter
This is both a Pro: X spell and a cantrip. So I can get away with 2 fewer lands.
Noble Hierarch
Is a 3 color "mana-dork" so I can get away with another 2 fewer lands.
Without these cards, with a 43 spells deck with a decent mana curve, I'd normally need 46.7 percent of my cards to be lands for a 43 spells control deck with a high mana curve. I then take away the need for 6 lands due to HALF the total number of mana dorks and cantrips, which leaves 22 lands needed. This puts my new total at 65 cards even with going back to 4 Detention spheres. I think this is fine until I actually do some play testing, because 65 cards is close enough to 60 for consistency for now, but might actually be advantageous against anyone using a Mill strat.
