You can watch this video about Dionne saying Beyoncé reaching icon status is a long way to go, let me know your comments on what she said herself if you like:
She said that if artists like Beyoncé or usher reach the 50 or 60 year mark, that’s when you can say they’re iconic.

(along the lines of Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, or Sammy Davis, Jr.)?
I feel like the people Dionne refers to are actually not only "icons" but LEGENDS, PIONEERS and ARCHITECTS of the genres of today! I'd add that Mariah, Janet and Whitney were definitely in their own league and have classics that can stand the test of time years from now.
I think what Dionne Warwick means is that, Yes Beyonce is talented, no doubt, but is her music sustainable? That is yet to be seen. Will people 60 years from now still be singing "Crazy in Love", "naughty girl", "Run the world", "single ladies", etc... are those classics? Will they still be relevant songs in 60 years that a new generation can relate to? She emphasized "classics". That's what she means. Will her music stand the test of time? We will see cause she has a long way to go... thats what she's saying.
What are y’all opinions?
