Why does the current pop culture memory only seem to go back to 1963?

I’m not saying nobody remembers or appreciates what happened before. I just mean it seems like the current pop culture only identifies with what happened after 1963, and anything that happened before that belonged to a different world altogether. It’s like it doesn’t have much in common with our current era.

Ask the average person today to name “classic” pop music figures; they’ll likely mention The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and maybe Bob Dylan. Movies, they’ll say *Star Wars* or *The Godfather*. Some may mention Elvis, Sinatra, or Casablanca, but those cultural references just seem so different and removed from us. Am I crazy?
