Do you ever feel bad for the new generation having no good shows/DCOMS?

This is not me saying “all the new shows are bad” or “things were better in my generation,” so do not take it that way.

I just mean that they don’t really have anything of their own. Like there’s Ravens Home and Descendants 4 and Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.. it’s all sequels of old stuff.

I feel bad that they don’t have classics of their own. Like, where’s their HSM? or Hannah Montana?

The only thing I can think of is Villains of Valley View (which I didn’t watch; you’ll have to tell me if it’s good), and I think that was cancelled.

I don't know, like not only am i sick of all these sequels but i feel bad for kids and tweens who don’t have the same thing we had you know?

Nowadays, it’s shows we grew up on Disney being rebranded or rebooted to appeal to the younger kids under a new cast of younger cast.

My question is why do you think kids are only watching Disney shows? Of course Disney, the largest entertainment corporation on earth, is going to stick to formulas that they know work, and yeah some of that relies on nostalgia marketing. But it’s not the only thing kids watch. Most kids don’t even watch tv shows, they watch youtube videos and twitch streams, unless their parents are the kind to just have an endless stream of shows playing just to keep them occupied when they’re small enough. Disney is just trying to compete with a market that is able to be more customized to a direct audience. They can’t do that as they still rely on tv ratings to tell them what is and isn’t working.

I love this question and I don't even watch TV anymore

But when covid hit I was feeling the same way I felt so bad for the kids nowadays because I was brought up in the '80s and 90s and let me tell you it was fun and I got to explore experience so many different things good things and things I wasn't supposed to and this and that and I was thinking about it and I mean I would want kids nowadays to be able to do the same things that I was able to do just to get a life experience

I mean TV is one of my last things I would think about but I mean everything I experienced the kids would have a good time instead of being who they are today

But I really like about this question was as I read it I heard my parents voice saying the exact same things about my generation

so in that sense, I don't feel bad for them

it would be bad for one to grow up and become bitter about our old stuff being old and never coming back... lmao

I prefer to enjoy the classics as the classic stuff they are for me, but also mix it up and explore the few new gems here and there, and they are there for sure... lol

I didn’t know there was a new wizards show. But kids aren’t the only ones that watch Disney. Some shows are cringy but at the same time so were some of the shows I grew up with. The new descendants movie made me laugh with the jeladin bit

I think the ting to remember is that these shows are for kids. But then again there's got to be a reason why the next generation are watching old kids tv shows over new ones.

There’s certainly is a reason for it is because shows we grew up had an originality and uniqueness about it, it has substance and quality that was made and left to be memorable and great to watch as a kid, even though it may seem a little cringy based on how dated it looks from the time period it came out but shows we grew up on taught actual lessons, had humor, and stars from the time that were popular.

These new shows that are out now that I’ve explored and found don’t have the appeal or quality, every time I turn around I see reboots made from shows we grew up on
