Why has Disney Channel stopped making so many great shows like the ones we grew up om?

Why has Disney Channel stopped making so many great shows like Kim Possible, That's So Raven, Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, The Replacements, etc? Those were great shows back in the day.

So far, they’ve tried to remake or reboot shows we’ve grown up with Kim Possible, WOWP, and Ravens Home to reboot them for the nostalgia sell and all they’ve done is be lazy to make money off old shows we grew up watching and need ours alone to leave them as classics they are. They just are not making new shows for the next generation of kids coming up, the shows I seen on the new Disney is rather bland and not really interesting to watch. At least the shows we grew up on were funny, taught us lessons, and were of great quality we’d still remember and watch after 10-15 20 years to show our future kids one day.

The new Disney and it seems to me it feels like new Disney channel just dumbed down their humor, jokes and dialogue.

Well theyve traumatized most from back in the day. So the only idiots applying now are adult versions of the ones from back in the day or new kids who can't act for shit. Disney and Nicks new shows just look so cheap. And not every “actor/actress” needs to try to sing ugh

Disney is just chasing trends now instead of taking risks on new, creative ideas. They want shows that will get views no matter what instead of shows that really mean something. The new shows lack the funny writing and interesting characters that made the old ones so memorable. All the reboots have been kinda lame too if you ask me. Like what's the point of bringing a show back if you're not even going to try and capture what made the original great?

You're totally right, the acting in the newer shows is nowhere near as good. It really does feel cheaper and lower quality. And yeah, the whole singing thing is way overdone now.

I think part of the problem is that Disney probably doesn't pay that well, so they're not attracting the same level of talent. All the real actors from our childhood shows have grown up, got older, and and moved on to bigger stuff. Now they're just pulling in whoever wants an easy paycheck.

It must be tough for kids these days too, wanting to watch Disney but having nothing actually good on. Like you said, the new shows just look lame as hell. No excitement or memorable characters at all.

I'm glad in a way that I got to grow up during the golden era of Disney shows. Feels bad for the little kids stuck with crappy reboots and super generic singing kid shows. Guess all we can do is hold onto the nostalgia of those classics we've got! Maybe one day Disney will figure it out again.

Ravens Home and Miraculous Ladybug are the only current disney shows i can tolerate. But they go a bit far with the random lgbt stuff thrown in both

These days shows are more centred on dating and sex lives than actual teenager stuff. Like sure it's a part but what about that feeling of liking someone and being shy to meet them bad school grades or fights with a sibling. The common arguments with parents , important school events and I don't know a more realistic life of a teenager. I feel this is no longer seemed as interesting enough for producers who find it too much work and effort when they could simply cash in relationships and people's bodies.

I agree. But I do wonder if the shows were genuinely better or is it just because we were kids at the time so they didn’t seem as cheesy to us? And maybe we still like those shows only because of the nolstagia?

You might have a point there dude. It does seem like a lot of the newer Disney shows push more progressive messages and stuff. And I could see how that might turn off some kids or parents.

Politics kinda ruins everything these days. Like can't they just make shows that are fun to watch without shoving all that stuff in? Nobody wants to be lectured about gender or climate change or whatever when they're just trying to chill and watch cartoons, ya know?

I'm not saying the old shows were perfect or anything. But at least back then it felt like they focused more on just being entertaining rather than trying to teach some kind of ideology. Kids should be able to just be kids without worrying about all that grownup stuff in their shows, in my opinion.

Maybe that's part of why the quality's gone down too, if the writers are too busy preaching instead of just making jokes. Either way, I miss when Disney was more about having fun instead of getting all serious and political.

That's a roundabout way of saying, 'We're screwed'.

I loved them before, now it's horrible, sorry but even the acting is awful, it seems like some of them don't even make an effort.

Right , I feel the kids growing up today who won’t have shows like we had growing up for them. That’s why when I have kids one day, I’m gonna shows like that I grew up on that was real actual shows to watch

Those were the good old days, it’s crazy now we’re grown and older to have seen all our childhood shows to look back on, we didn’t actually realize that was the golden era. Coming home from school to try to rush to catch our favorite shows and had to wait til the next week or so to watch the premiere episode that was important to see. Nowadays, you can go back to watch it if you missed an episode
