What would it take for you to give someone's music a chance?

I'll be transparent. I make music, and I want to learn how to get people to listen to it with an open mind. I don't want to twist anyone's arm to get them to listen, but at the same time, I think at least some people would like it. It's just for fun at the end of the day, so I don't want to come off as a tryhard. Any suggestions from your perspectives?
