I'd say 90s into the 2000s, when CGI is used sparingly, and the mindset of studios was to make the most of a given budget rather than just blow the bank.

Put me down for the 1980s. There were plenty of good movies in all the various genres - drama, comedy, history, horror. However, three will forever be the top of my mind:

1) Ferris Bueller's Day Off

2) Ghostbusters

3) Risky Business

Loved'em and can watch them over and over again. There are other films from other eras and genres that I genuinely enjoy, particularly historical films - "Patton," "Tora! Tora! Tora!", "Midway" (the 1976 version ), - and others. I am a movie fan - but those three 1980s comedies always bring a smile to my face.

Just for those three, the 1980s win hands down.

That’s going to be subjective. Personally, I agree with you. Most of my favourite movies are from the 80s or 90s.

However, that’s probably because those were the ones most widely distributed during my formative years. I was in an uber today and the douchebag driver was playing some song by an artist I don’t know who had sampled the music from Beverly Hills Cop. I said “oh she sampled the music from Beverly Hills Cop” and he says “what was that?” So I asked him if he had ever seen Beverly Hills Cop and he said no and had never heard of it. The guy would probably have been around 23 or 4.
