Have you ever seen a truly memorable performance on Broadway?

‘tis the season for me to head back to Broadway for a few weeks to keep my seat for another year, and Boyfriend, yea verily fiancé (no not yet), has 3 or 4 games close by (close enough) which will be nice

this is the most memorable performance i've seen, long before i was even born, Betty Buckley age 36 as Grizabella in the original Broadway production of Cats in the 1980s (Elaine Paige had done it a year before in London). The night this was filmed she won a Tony Award. I, who can find something to criticize about anything, cannot find any fault with this performance

the young cat is Whitney Kershaw who kind of faded away, but in Britain it was the very famous soprano Sarah Brightman, who ended up marrying Andrew Lloyd Webber for a few years

Even though I lived in the NY metro area, I only went to 1 Broadway show when I was in the 8th Grade in 1977. It was an extracurricular school trip and we went to see The Magic Show which premiered 50 years ago and was rather popular. The star, magician Doug Henning, was NOT in that matinee show which was a bit disappointing, but still a wonderful experience.

I have seen a few theatrical performances since, but none in Manhattan.

Speaking of Sarah Brightman, my wife and I did go to a Sarah Brightman concert in 2000 or 2001 in the Albany NY area. She was wonderful.

I've never been to a show on Broadway, though I have seen shows in other cities performed by a touring cast. The performance of A Chorus Line was particularly memorable, especially the infamous One dance finale.

My family loves Broadway plays. They've been to a million of them over the years. I've only been to three in my life.

Fiddler on the Roof, Hamilton, and I can't remember the third one! That's how much I care about them.

A high school friend of mine is big name on the Broadway circuit. When we were in high school he wrote a few plays and I was in a couple of them, and I did the special effects for some others. It's cool to think that he was learning his craft from that experience. Very interesting guy.

All 12 musicals I've seen over the years on Broadway are memorable for me but if I have to pick out my top 3 (not in any particular order, they were all brilliant) :

'Phantom of the Opera' -- 'Cats' -- and that glitziest-of-all Broadway musicals, '42nd St'

Saw all those 3 in London's West End too ! Have to add 'Les Miserables' to the many fantastic West End musicals I've enjoyed.

never been. But a performance of Wicked, in San Francisco was the greatest thing I've ever seen. With Patty Duke guest performing as Madame Morrible. It was good times.
