Why all the game shows?

It seems like there are more game shows on prime time TV than ever. I just saw that Hollywood Squares is making a comeback. Do the networks want to chase viewers away?

I think Hollywood is out of fresh ideas, for just about everything. Everything at this point is derivative of something before it. So now they just go with full-on reboots of old stuff. I liked game shows enough when I was a kid, but I can’t imagine tuning in as an adult. I’m almost completely off TV and movies at this point. I watch sports and that’s about it. TV doesn’t have much else for me these days. I don’t really like sitting idle in one place for more than a few minutes, so the entire dynamic of “watching something” isn’t ideal for me.

Networks are losing viewers and money. Game shows are cheap to produce and generally have consistent viewer numbers.

In other words, it's an attempt at an economic solution by network management.

Aww i used to love watching game shows as a kid. My favorite was always Press Your Luck. I dont mind game shows making a come back. Curious as to why you don't like them. They have a whole network to show the old ones so why not bring back game shows for the major networks?

As time goes on, fewer people will watch TV.
The people that do watch have been doin so their entire lives.
Those people, thrive off of familiarity.
For that reason, there are no new ideas; they stick with what people liked and are familiar with.
