Why is slavery so normalized in anime?

I know it's fiction, but it's really weird that it's something so common in anime. Am I the only one who finds it weird that the protagonist buys girls in a slave market and thinks it's normal?

Never been into anime and do not understand weeaboo people who are. There are a select few I have ever watched and enjoyed because they are "normal" like Vinland Saga, a historic series. In the case of that anime it is simply referencing how slavery was intrinsical to our existence for almost all of history up until the Christian west, spearheaded by the British empire and Christian abolitionists, fought to abolish the institution.
Everywhere in the world you found slaves, in many parts of the world you still do, like Mauretania an islamic country where 42% of the populace are modern slave, or in Libya. So I do not believe it concerns normalisation, but rather just nodding to reality.

I watch and read a lot of anime and manga and not a single one included normalizing slaves.

Glad our Slavic culture focuses rather on hard but fair men like Witchers who spend their earned gold in taverns and brothels, instead on incels who need attention of girl hordes.
