In 4 years time they’ve gone from an all time low of about 10 million viewers. Back up to near 20 million viewers. So maybe more people are feeling sympathetic towards them now that a lot of their houses burned down in the LA fires? Or maybe more people are hate watching. Or maybe younger people are starting to watch.
they used to be up to 45 million viewers so they have definitely fallen off. I don’t like the Oscar’s. I used to watch them back in their 45 million viewers era back when their reputation was still squeaky clean. Mostly watched it for the jokes.
Ricky Gervais was the last funny act they had hosting it. And he hasn’t done it in awhile.
From what I know about it, from highlights. It’s all trash. And nothing I’d be interested in or would support. It’s getting so bad that they said some of the people in charge with putting votes forward refused to vote on some of the nominations. So not even Hollywood itself is in a good state. They have so many internal problems. And for some reason they believe that moving Hollywood out of California will fix those issues. Which I highly doubt it would.
I don’t think I’ve watched a new movie in almost ten years, lmao. Get Out? I think that was the last one. Been a while.
My elderly dad was watching it for some reason, and like the part at 9 PM when they’re giving an award for Best Gaffer or some shit to some behind-the-scenes German or Scandinavian dude I’ve never heard of😂
Vibe Of The Night goes to that beanpole kid the young ladies like these days, Timothée Chalamet or whatever. Dude was front row in some bright yellow Easter suit dapping up all these people who won as they went by. It was kind of goofy to me, but on second thought, it was a pretty chill, down-to-Earth move. I don’t think they even worked on movies he was in.
Other than the 15 minutes I saw while I was cooking dinner, I’m not really in the know, but that yellow suit was something else😂
I usually don't watch or keep up to date with the Oscars, unless there's a particular film or nominee I endorse (like I did last year with Lily Gladstone the lead actress in the movie Killers of the flower moon that was about the genocide and murder of members of the Osage nation). Nowadays they're mostly about marketing, campaigning and lobbying, while merit takes a backseat. There are a lot of smaller budget productions and indie gems that have a difficulty reaching the academy and tend to be overlooked
Any movie worth watching would never get a mention at the Oscars. They're just as meaningless as the Grammys.
The 2025 Oscars were truly spectacular! The winners this year were deserving, with a few surprises that stirred up conversations. As for fashion, it was an eclectic mix of bold choices and timeless elegance. I loved how some celebrities pushed the boundaries with their attire. However, a few fashion risks didn't pay off. My personal best-dressed picks were those who gracefully balanced innovation with classic red-carpet glam, while the worst-dressed might have been trying too hard to stand out. Overall, the event celebrated cinema beautifully! 🎬✨

The Oscars are just a jerk off party for arrogant pretentious actors that need gratification because they were never truly loved. They mean nothing, they're rigged trash with no value handed out based on public image and politics and have nothing to do with talent or art anymore.
Thank you. That about sums it up!!! Just a wokejoke now.
There’s nothing really out there nowadays it’s not the exciting main event showdown who is the big winner anymore who is new head honcho in Hollywood. I never even heard of these movies that they’re winning. I know that the Academy Awards are the woman’s Super Bowl
And here I thought that the Super bowl was the guy's Academy Awards. I guess I follow films about as much as I follow basketball :)
@juliaanita the academy awards are a big ticket. It’s the woman’s Super Bowl by far the best show of the year.
I am happy "Emilia Perez" only won two Oscars out of 13 nominations (for best song, and for Zoe Saldana for supporting actress)
And I am also happy that Chalamat didn't win cause it means Adrien Brody (who won his second Oscar by the way) is still the youngest actor to win an Oscar as well as the only one to win before 30 (for "The Pianist")
Didn't watch it, or any other oscars before that, so my opinion is I don't care.
As far as fashion goes, I like video game, anime/cartoon, sci-fi, and fantasy cosplay outfits. Specifically ones that are either cool looking or sexy.
Couldn't care less what happened there. Not worth staying up all night. Flying over it in the news but that's it
Vanity show with fake spirit of staged competition and pseudo merit.
I'm like most people, I just don't care. It seems to have lost its glamour. Think we are all tired of their political lecturing.
Yeh like rob de niro! Cheer for me! I hate trump. Ugh.
@strateguy632 I totally hate De Niro and refuse to watch anything he is in. He has mental issues!
@strateguy632 I love de Niro. Just can't understand what's happened to him?
they were irrelevant to me since i didn't see any movies in 2024
I didn't bother to even have a look.
My overall opinion: it's a thing that isn't my own thing.
I reserve the right not to have an opinion about things that have nothing to do with me.
I haven't watched the Oscars since I was a teen.
They lost credibility about "best anything" skills. They reward agenda insted* of "best quality story" .
I haven't seen any of the movies except Dune 2 which was probably better than any of the other movies.
Once in a Blue Moon an award show will give an award to a genuinely deserving recipient, but I do not have the patience to wait for that one-in-a thousand event.
I only watched for Conan. anytime he was on screen it was excellent
I'm glad Anora won and Conclave got something
Uninterested in watching rich people congratulate other rich people for being rich.
I haven't watched the Oscars in years.
I heard Dior, had an awful night, fashion wise. Across the board, Dior outfits, god slammed
Saw a few minutes of it earlier, But like a lot of the others wasn't really bothered
I don't really know any of the Best Picture nominees. So didn't really care.
People watch that?
Lol never saw it looks like too much thirst traps 😉
I gave up following tye Iscars years ago.
Don't watch it anymore. It's too political!
Didn’t watch! Don’t care !
It was disgraceful in my opinion.
I dont watch those shows, and im on vaction.
I didn't even know the Oscar's was going on.
Oscars? What Oscars?
I haven't watched the Oscars in 30+ years.
Anora is not a good film - at all.
Very bad
Boring...
