I went to my local comic con today. I had fun but it was smaller compared to the last one I went to back in 2023, because they were having a cheer competition in the same venue.

17 dI went to one because my nephew really wanted to go, not because I wanted to be there. They did have a history of video games exhibit where they had old game systems which was pretty cool though.
He seemed to have a good time and got a few autographs of different anime voice actors I believe. I doubt I will go to any more though. Not because I hate games or anime or anything, I just don't do well in crowds.40 Reply

I've been to the San Diego Comic-Con which is all of Hollywood not just comic books.

This was other things too not just comic books, there was a lot of non comic book cosplay too
I did. I went with some of my friends and the cute blonde chicken from the TV show Smallville brain washed me and had me in her sex cult for like 5 or 6 years. Say no to comicon and yes to drugs. I would have been better off doing blow with my jock buddies

Holy shit. Comic-Con here in New York City is like a religious event! Cost hundreds of dollars and thousands if you want autographs and photos and symposiums. I've never gone but my kids have. Saved up all their money just to go

I've had the chance to attend several comic cons and similar geeky events, including the famous San Diego Comic-Con. It's such a vibrant atmosphere with fans showcasing their cosplay, comic book artists displaying their art, and panels featuring creators and actors from beloved series. Each event has its own unique charm, big or small, so it’s wonderful that you had a good time! 😊

I wouldn’t go as far as calling con participants nerdy or geeky. They are just cool people enjoying themselves at an event they love. Nobody should feel condescended for doing what they love with other people who love the same thing.
Hell yes I’ve been to a Con. I’ve brought my brother in law to an 8-but Con and it was an amazing experience. More people need to embrace what makes them happy and f**k society and their stereotypes of what a nerd or geek is. Just be your happy self and be proud of that.10 Reply - 10 d
School took us to a renaissance fair before when we were reading William Shakespeare in language class. We had to watch a performance of Shakespeare and watch some LARPers sword fight and then just spent the rest of the day on carnival rides and shit like that.
10 Reply Yep. I felt like I didn't belong there at first but everyone was so friendly and the comics and art were amazing it was just a class act altogether

Yep, and from experience, the venue is a make or break for a con. Never have a con choose a venue that seals them into a contract.
Always find a place that will have affordable venue retals, plenty of space, and will keep merch booth prices low (because merch booth prices are like tarrifs, they are added into the price of the product.). Having freebie options are always a boost for a con when badges are $35-$40 for a single day pass and 3day passes are $60-$80. Not everyone can afford that but having the free fan interactions and free events like boardgame, crafts, and TTRPG areas, are always a great way to get people interested in a convention and consider setting money aside for the next one. Plus free con goers still spend money, so it's still a profit.00 Reply - 17 d
I've been to a j-popcon in my country three times, and something similar but smaller, once
Usually been there with friends, we only go for one day.20 Reply - Anonymous(36-45)12 d
100 million years ago, I went to an actual comic book convention. There were no stages, no people in characters, no movie promos, no merch being sold. Literally you walked into the convention space, and it was just rows and rows of people selling comic books and talking about comic books. True pure nerds.
10 Reply 335 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. No but I sometimes go to Horror Con , which is usually a great time and I get to meet a lot of actors and actresses from classic horror movies.
20 Reply699 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Yes I've been to one it was alright. But pop culture isn't as fun to follow here because you're just not at the center of it as much. But I'll go again to the one in my city just to check it out :)

A German comic convention. Meaning, it was a serious one, without weeaboos babbling about animé waifus or adults in costumes. It was all about the comic books.

For real! 🤜🤛 😬

I‘m sure the most important books get translated into German, but the Franco-Belgien comics are what’s important here (we don’t do silly superheros): Asterix, Tintin, Lucky Luke, The Smurfs, Marsupilami…
5.6K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I went to a Star Trek convention. The big draw was Robert Duncan McNeil who was in Voyager.

I will NEVER watch Voyager. All else
I went to Catholic school. Every day was a nerdy-con.

Yup, I went with some acquaintances... and unfortunately, it wasn't very fun, lol.
I don't fit in with "normal" people. And I don't fit in with geeks or nerds either.

I went purely because I had a crush on the guy who invited me. We did not date but were acquaintances for a few months.

- 17 d
Oh man hard to say i loved them both but i think i must say the furry con since it was hosted on a huge ship where the alcohol was super cheap i was partying all night with other furries
- 11 d
Nope, not into that. I respect those that do. Some of the costumes are really creative.

No but the guys on the Big Bang Theory make it seem like it could be fun.

Nothing big but I want to. Unfortunately no large scale comicons exist in my area.
