I donāt watch as many movies as I used to, especially after the pandemic. I donāt really watch Netflix either, more so YouTube videos on learning things, education, money, etc. I recently went to the movies a week ago. I do like the movies though when I go. I try to go a week or so after a movie has been out so itās usually myself, my girl and maybe a handful of people. But most times itās empty. I like the sound of the theater, the popcorn, nachos, soda and candy. The last movie I went to see was Warfare. Good movie, I liked it a lot.
Depends..
If I know it's gonna be a really good movie I like seeing it in theatres because you get a huge screen and surround sound galore that just makes it more immersive. For example, I went to see Jujitsu Kaisen 0 in theatres because I knew the fight scenes were going to be epic! You also can bring your own snacks in if you want, you just can't bring hot food lol. I went to see 'Saw' in 3D which was cool too and got scared at one part the saw looked like it was gonna hit me in the face lol.. and plus it is just fun sometimes with friends just to get out of the house. If it is just a movie I am unsure about or if I just want a night in.. then I will pick nexflix or whatever to watch a movie.
Yesterday I wanted to go out so I just went to the theatres with my friends to watch Minecraft it was pretty crap but it had a few funny parts. The theatre had lazyboy type chairs to recline and put your feet up lol.
His movies are often crap and he only seems to appeal to a niche audience type
@NicholasRedone Who's films? Jack blacks? He was fine in the film, it was they made Jason Momoa character so stupid and the other three that dragged it down lol.. Jason isn't suited to funny films.. and the girl and boy couldn't act for shit and were just basically pointless characters.. the story was trash and not well thought out.. The ending clip was funny tho with the villager and Jennifer Coolidge.
I agree their movies are often crappy š¬šš¤£
We have a home theater that can blow away any cinema experience. We also only buy physical product, which also blows away anything a streaming service can offer.
I'm noticing more people are putting theaters in their home. I worked with a family who had a theater in their home. 10x better than the movies
There is nothing like the experience of seeing a motion picture in a theater with an audience.
50 years ago, "JAWS" transformed cinema. I saw "JAWS" in the summer of 1975 and I remember that and what happened because of that.
Had "JAWS" debuted on Netflix in 2025, it would not have been the transformative event.
Steven Spielberg is right about the Academy Awards... It is wrong to include streaming movies in the awards. Movies made for and released to movie theaters should have the Oscars. Movies that are made by streaming services or are primarily intended to be streamed after a very short run in theaters should have their own awards... "The Streamies" or something.
Really, all streamed content should have their own awards system. Emmys for broadcast TV and Oscars for cinematic releases.
While Netflix offers a cozy and convenient experience, I still enjoy the magic of movie theaters. There's something special about watching a film on the big screen with immersive sound and shared emotions in the audience. Both have their own charm, but for movies with stunning visuals and sound, theaters have an edge. It ultimately depends on your mood and the film you want to watch! 🎬🎥
Actually, it ultimately depends on the fact that most people just can't afford to drop $20 to see a pic and have a quick nibble!!! But, you wouldn't "know" that, yet alone have feelings about it.

My wife and I go quite often.
We go on Tuesdays for the matinee i think it is 7 bucks, and we buy the popcorn bucket so that is 5 bucks.
Nothing like seeing a movie on the big screen.
They will also run a series of older Halloween movies and Christmas movies so we like watching the classics on the big screen.
Our friends will go with us.
I prefer watching movies at home over the theater, I never been much of a movie theater goer but every once in awhile I might go , just depends on the movie and if itās actually worth seeing it in the theater. Watching movies at home on my own theater is better because I can pause the movie at any time and not miss shit lol
Watching a movie at home does have its advantages, but some movies are just better seen on the big screen. Top Gun: Maverick, for example... so much better in a movie theater.
Having said that, my wife and I probably watch 6 or 7 movies a week on Netflix, while we go to the movies 3 or 4 times a year.
Do the math...
Neither. I canceled Netflix about 18 months ago after I had viewed everything I thought was worth watching. And I kind of hate movie theaters, where God only knows what is on the seats or the floors. I wait until something I want is released on Blu-ray and then get it, so I can watch at my leisure at home in high quality as many times as I want and with whomever I want, with the ability to pause and rewind.
Yeah that grosses me out now. Everyone's ass has been on the seats, kids boogers, stinky diapers. I'll pass
Movies always have a sense of occasion and that you've "gone out" although they are tending to become a little over the top commercialised with the sameness all around. They're also expensive (adds to the occasion but in a bad way like paying for a taxi when you have a car)
There's nothing like eating whatever you want in bed while watching a good movie or series. The only reason anyone would go to the theaters is for a thrilling and engaging experience with a lot of other people. Usually that's only done with big titles, sadly smaller movies tend to be ignored unless they're big. To summarise what people want, people want entertainment but they also want an event.
i've turned back to illegal streaming cause the services of netflix amazon and disney got more shitty as they got more expensive. illegal streaming has better quality, better service and is also free. so fuck them. i'll come back to them when they offer a good service. i'm not opposed to paying. but i won't pay if i get something better for free.
i ould go to the cinema but todays movies are 99% social justice, feminazi, gender confusion, racist bullshit.
Iām going tonight because itās Star Wars Revenge of the Sith 20th Anniversary.
Other than that I donāt even see trailers for new movies anymore unless they are the usual Marvel large budget trailers that find their way into everything.
The last movie I saw in theaters was Gladiator 2, before that I think was Dune 2.
Since Avengers End game I think itās just been three or four movies Iāve gone to at theaters
It depends on the movie. Marvel movies? I'm watching at home. But there are movies that are worth going to the cinema for. I'd hate to have watched Dunkirk or 1917 on a TV. Also, find a local theatre that shows older movies or movies that aren't blockbusters. My local theatre has affordable food and serves alcohol. Good movies, good vibes and good eats.
Can't even remember last time I went. It's nice once in a while if you're going for a movie like Avatar for the immersive experience though. But other than that, I chill at home and watch on either my laptop or TV.
I definitely prefer Netflix as I'm not a fan of crowded places... but from time to time I watch a movie in a cinema with friends :D
I have not been to a movie theater in over 4 years. A brand new theater opened up in town 2 years ago and Ihave not ben there yet.
Neither have I last time I went was avengers lol
@babebytheshore85 I saw "The Big Short" which was about Wall Street. There was a power failure in my neighborhood and our house was getting cold so we went to the movies to go to someplace that was warm while we waited for the electricity to get turned back on. That movie happened tobe playing there.
Haven't gone to a theater for ages- ever since it started costing a small fortune to see a flick. Plus, on a DVD, I can rerun the more interesting parts.
I guess it just depends on my mood, the movie, etc.
I enjoy both the theater and being at home though.
Never went, have always been too expensive for me, I only ever went with my school, I don't have Netflix either
I would like the movie theater more, not most of the time. But movies today suck or are woke so I only go 1-2 times a year. Netflix is woke as well but there is a lot to choose from.
I used to go to the movies a lot I still do sometimes but I definitely prefer at home now because it's cleaner, more comfortable and no cameras watching lol
I go every now and then but just add happy to watch it at home
Rarely go to a theater, depending on the movie
Neither
Netflix doesn't have most new movies until way after release, and theaters are a rip off.
If you like a movie, buy it on dvd.
I just like fucking and I can't fuck in the movie theater unless I'm really sneaky.
I use to go to movies before Pandemic at least once a week. Now at least once year. Some movies should be seen in Theater.
Though went to movies back around for Thanksgiving for my sister my BIL rented a movie theater and Saw Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
I go to the theater every month because i get free ticket from my organization. I used to go every week a couple of years ago when i had money and time.
I haven't been to a movie theater since pre-pandemic days. The last movie I saw in a theater was the first Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot in 2017.
Movie theater. Hell, I would bring back physical rental stores. The human social aspect is a fun part of it. It's just dead watching stuff at home all the time.
I love going to Movies, I love getting out, My wife hates going to movie's. Since I do not like going alone, I do not go that often.
I haven't been to the movie theater in almost a decade. 2016 or 2017 was the last time I went.
Dang! Why?
Just not interested to go.
I went to see Minecraft movie last week 😆 I don't watch Netflix, youtube mostly
Depends if it's a first run we want to see or just wait for it to stream.
I think the last movie I went to see was pre-pandemic. Bohemian Rhapsody.
I prefer the movie theater of Netflix any day of the week.
You prefer the movies over Netflix, Why?
I prefer going out and enjoying the movie on the big screen and being with family and friends over watching something all by my lonesome self on Netflix. I have never been a huge fan of streaming services.
Netflix in general
Cinema has a bigger screen!
The movie theater is the best by far
Good point
I prefer cinema. Or home video recorder.
Home.
