Why were the Twilight and 50 Shades movies bad?

I've seen horrible movies and neither one of those movies are downright horrible. Twilight especially the first one is kind of campy but it's not a horrible movie series. Each one gets better as it goes along and you can see the development. 50 shades not so much but still isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I think a lot of people just jumped on the bandwagon of it being horrible movies because of it's intense popularity.

I personally would not watch 50 shades again but it's not so bad that you can't watch it at least once.

But I love the Twilight series. It's kind of nostalgic for me because I read the books when I was a teenager and watched the first one with my book club friends. So I'm a bit biased with Twilight but again I don't think they are as bad as people made them out to be.

I have not seen the Twilight movies past the first. It's a dark fantasy teen drama for girls. It's a very niche group, but it works for them.
Fifty Shades is just a horrible representation of BDSM. So, the few people who would normally like it are instantly turned off. The others who have no clue may like it but get the wrong impression. So, it's a lose-lose situation for the target audience.

The Secretary existed before 50 Shades. Buffy the Vampire Slayer before Twilight. So that movie and TV series (yes I know that it was a movie before a TV show; but the show was fleshed out enough to be comparable to the Twilight saga), demonstrated how both movies could have been produced; and the others don't hold up to that standard.

I’m assuming you mean aside from the fact that both franchises (especially considering that 50 Shades of Grey is literally just erotic Twilight fanfiction) have couples that meet every requirement to be legally called abusive?

They were well watched and enjoyed by everyone I have ever talked to before about them. Even the TV entertainment people gave them very high ratings. Must be you and that is fine as you have a right for your opinion.
