Laura Ingalls Wilder lol I honestly think she gave an honest insight into the struggles of "early" America. Especially as a little girl! I love the TV series, Little House on the Prairie but it was tamed down, just a bit, from her actual writings. Her writings clearly showed how her and her sister's were not exempt from being severely punished by their parents, just because they were "girls". They got "whipped" just like a boy would! The TV series was a little more "family friendly" when it came to their punishment. What really impresses me, is she wrote these classics while in her 60's!

@Cormac995 Same with me! My mom is actually a teacher and would read a little bit each night, and know when to stop, just to leave me wanting to hear the rest. Eventually, she gave me the series of books to read on my own. Then one summer she started reading, "Where the Red Fern Grows". I finished the rest of the book on my own and cried all summer lol... I'm such a geek!

I also want to mention Kelly Sue Deconnick as a comic writer. This one more for her work outside publishings. Her captain marvel run was ok but captain marvel is not my favorite so its kinda biased against her.

Anne McCaffrey. My Dad brought me up reading her books, he’s always been a huge fantasy nerd. I don’t have many favourite authors, but she is the only female one.

I like Isabelle Ayende, a Chilean author who has a way with words. She is so entertaining and writes beautifully. She has written books such as "The House of the Spirits", a great eerie one made into a movie (with Jeremy Irons, Meryl Streep, Antonio Banderas, Wyoner Rider, and Glenn Close), Daughter of Fortune, The Japanese Lover, Eva Luna, and Ripper, based on the true case of the Jack the Ripper San Francisco case of 2012. She's really good.

I have read Maggie Jackson's bot books so I go with that. She writes about the effect technology hasn had on our lives. Both good and bad.

S E Hinton for ‘The Outsiders’, it is a good book and out of all the books I was forced to read in Middle School… This by far caught my attention and made me love reading her world.
