Would the Pokémon company be okay with this?

ROMs and emulators are pretty much free. They cost nothing. Game developers don't like this, because they don't make any money when people use them. I use them for unique challenges that I like to undertake, like using a Pokémon that can't be caught early in the game, or doing a challenge that I can't typically do in a game on the cartridge.
I make sure to never get an emulator of a game that I haven't bought in cartridge form already. Since they made money from me because I bought the cartridge, would they be that mad that I use emulators to play the game in a way that only emulators and ROMs allow?

I mean there's nothing they can do about it either way what's on your computer if private so unless they hack into your computer they ain't gonna know regardless.

Legally/ethically it's a grey area. I do have a few emulators and roms personally and I don't see anything wrong with it especially since there's a modding scene with it. On this one website people have used the base pokemon games as a foundation and pretty much created entirely new pokemon games it's pretty crazy.

I'm guessing the company would prefer you buy more of their product but I don't think they'd come after you since you did buy the base product.

If there was a way to do it in the base game, I'd do it. I like the cartridges more, but some things can't be done on them
