There was a time when there was nothing at all,
Nothing at all, just a distant hum
There was a being and he lived on his own
He had no one to talk to, and nothing to do
He drew up the plans, learnt to work with his hands
A million years passed by and his work was done
And his words were these...
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it, hope you find it
Hope you find me in you
So she had built her elaborate home
With its ups and its downs, its rains and its sun
She decided that her work was done, time to have fun
And found a game to play
Then as part of the game
She completely forgot where she'd hidden herself
And she spent the rest of her time
Trying to find the parts
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it, hope you find it
Hope you find me in you
There was a time when there was nothing at all,
nothing at all...
just a distant hum...

The new one is limited because of the small amount of instrumentation. We also no longer have Rupert Hine to produce it.
Dear God, the '80s were a bad decade for music. So thankful to have been a child of the '90s instead.
BULLSHIT!!! It was a GREAT time for music!! Lots of new instruments and tech, LOADS of very creative music!! Rap ruined music!!!
@FunkyMonkee Lots of new synths and electronic drum kits, etc, that were still in their infancy and sound like absolute crap. There are many reasons why '80s music was so dreadful, and it would take far too long to list them here, but I will say that I generally agree with most (though not all) of what is written in this article: www.palatinate.org.uk/.../
The '90s however, were a golden age of music, with 1994 specifically being widely (and rightly) regarded as the single best year for music of all time.
Sounded pretty cool to me!!
In the `90's, music was mostly dead!! All we had were high-dollar country musoes, dime a dozen pop princesses (most of whom were grown women that sounded like 10 year olds), rap out the ass, more hair metal than you could shake a razor at, a bunch of punk hold-outs, a few grunge bands, most of whom lasted a few weeks. and every great once in awhile there'd be a really good band like Spacehog, Super Furry Animals, Primus, Fishbone, Mum, Aqualung, Death Cab For Cutie, Radiohead, Solar Quest, The Orb, Ozric Tentacles, Pillbugs, Vibrasonic, Lollipop Factory, Ishkabibble, Fear Factory.
The single best year for music, 1967!! (Mid `66 to mid `68)
From what I've seen, most people that claim to hate the music of the `80's ONLY got to hear the stuff that floated to the very top! Quite a bit of THAT was crap!! But, if you delve deeper, there's LOADS of great stuff!! The same could be said for most generations and music genres. I, particularly, love and grew up in the psychedelic era but, hardly ANY of it got any airplay so, very little of what was out there was known about!! I started a psych compilation in 1999 using only the psych that I had. At that point in time, I only had about 36,000 records and only enough psych to fill about 6 or 8 hours of tape!! So, I started looking for more. Now, I've got enough to fill over 150 full CD's!! At least 90% of is stuff FROM the `60's that nobody ever got to hear on the radio!!
Another thing about music and the general public is that they only judge on what they hear! They, mostly, have no idea what it took to make that music! Hell, music is my life! I started collecting records when I was 2!! And I STILL don't know everything it takes to make it, at least not the very modern stuff but, most of it's push-button plastic, anyway so, it's not like it even really matters anymore. There's very little art (or talent) in that art, these days!!
You could be the worst singer in the world and still have a hit record because of the tech used.
@FunkyMonkee I'm not rushing to make judgement on the current state of music. I think there's always a natural tendency to be very dismissive of new music - and especially new pop music, but ultimately, it's pop (ular) for a reason. For example, boybands like Backstreet Boys and NSYNC were widely derided at the time, but with hindsight, the less snobby among us have realized that actually, they made some pretty damn good, catchy, pure pop songs (I'd sooner listen to Backstreet Boys than the awful crap you posted, any day). Likewise, at the time, it certainly felt like the 2010s were a dark age for music, but in reality, there was some fantastic pop music being made (particularly in the first half of the decade).
I don't buy the whole "people only know what's played on the radio" argument either - it's simply not true. Maybe at the time, but if something is still unknown 40 years later, it's because it was shit to begin with. Cover versions; samples in other songs; movie and TV soundtracks; adverts - one way or another, decent music rises to the top (you don't have to go digging for it).
That being said, I'm also not American, which means I've never had to suffer listening to much rap / hip-hop / country etc on the radio.
You couldn't pay me to listen to the Backstreet Boys or *nstynk.
RIGHT! That's why so much of the stuff you have to dig for is so highly collectible and costs a fortune to get a copy.
@FunkyMonkee Supply and demand. Not much demand for it now, but even less supply, because it was shit.
Right!! Whatever!!
What an abomination of a tune.
