What's your favorite 80s love song?

live performances are always exciting especially from the olden days, but below is the studio version of this track from EMI which is quite nice
some interesting history from my dad, in addition to a full studio orchestra with real instruments, you can hear the old Fender Rhodes MK II piano where nowadays our guys use a software plugin with samples for this kind of instrumentation. i thought what sounds like a synth grand piano was the Mk III but my dad said no, it was a Steinway 9' Model D re-tuned with metallic hammers and then revoiced and recorded in an empty Albert Hall in London. that same piano is now in a back rehearsal room in a London studio with the same configuration for specialty recording, and needs to be fully tuned and voiced before every session which costs a fortune
we have 4 or 5 times as many trucks and buses on our tours than these artists did back then (and we have 4 planes and i don't think they had any). we also have about 10 times more personnel on the road
the travel space we need now is for LED light assemblies and towers, which are massive but very light, screens, scrims and amps, which they didn't even have, and back then they had to carry all of their sound production equipment wherever they went, which for us is mostly on a Mac Book Pro (with 7 backups in the hands of 7 different people in the event the worst of the worst happens, which it did for us one night for half an hour and you would have thought the world was coming to an end)
studio version
Nice!
Thank you for MHO. Between you and I, I listened to that song a couple times last night and got a little misty eyed lol I've been alone for the last three days and thought I would enjoy some "alone" time (he's away for work) but I sure miss him. I just hope the prick feels the same 😂😂😂
You're welcome and aww. I'm sure he does.
Oh man, I love that song. ALL-TIME banger, and just decidedly 80s in its feel. And that creepy guy in the video is straight out of Central Casting, could not look more lecherous, lmao.
So hard to narrow down, I grew up on 80s music, so I’ve heard so much of it, and not just the ones that get remembered the most retrospectively. 80s pop music scene was unreal, and I’m not even a huge pop music guy. I could give you at least 50 that I’d consider for contention. Don’t worry, I won’t😅 But I’d maybe throw like four non-researched, off-the-top-of-the -head sub-divisional winners out there.
Pop Division: A-Ha - Take On Me. I mean, this is just one of the best songs of the 80s, period….
https://www.youtube.com/embed/djV11Xbc914First Dance Wedding Ballad Division: I’m going Atlantic Starr - Always…
https://www.youtube.com/embed/dM-CiPKZF4gBoy Band Division: New Kids On The Block - Please Don’t Go, Girl….. why did we stop talking about this one?😭😭😭 So good, and the video girl has that haircut that I’d only see on the cover of the style books at the hair salon my mom would drag me to as a kid while she got her 80s perm, lmao…
https://www.youtube.com/embed/2txArOEsLPcR&B Division was tough, but in the end, I gotta go with Love You Down by Ready For The World. The Jheri curl was just too strong to go in any other direction with this one….

This song is in one of my books as a memory for the characters in love. Great choice!
Also Bryan Adams Heaven and then there's a bunch of Bruce Springsteen songs I like. Jungleland
Beneath the city, two hearts beat
Soul engines running through a night so tender
In a bedroom locked in whispers
Of soft refusal and then surrender
In the tunnels uptown, the Rat's own dream guns him down
As shots echo down them hallways in the night
No one watches when the ambulance pulls away
Or as the girl shuts out the bedroom light
It's a story about a rat and a barefoot girl it doesn't really make any sense but it pulled me in. I loved this song so much lol :)
Yw! 😊
"Love is a Battlefield" is such a classic! 🎶 My favorite 80s love song has to be "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. It has a timeless melody and was also prominently featured in the iconic movie *Top Gun*. The emotional depth and nostalgia of the song are just unparalleled. Plus, it never fails to transport me back to that era!

Love song... hmmm...
I'd have to think about this because there are probably a few, but this one sticks out in my mind at the moment.
It's the extended version of "Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You)" by A Flock of Seagulls.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/L5tNI1d5cEkthere is a lot of good songs in the 1980thies, it was probably the zenith of human culture and society. Today are """artists""" just lazy or scammers and produce just remake after remake.
Take my breath away (Berlin)
Total Eclipse of the Heart (Bonnie Tyler)
Eternal Flame (Bangles)
The Rose (Bette Midler, technically 1979)
Carless Whisper (Wham)
The Beautiful Ones (Prince)
With or Without you (U2)
I love all of these songs. I cannot pick one.
Growing up in the 80s i wasn't into love songs. It was rock music mixed in with pop, but one song and video I liked was Take on me by Ah ha.
Nice!
That's a good one too!
@dongie OMG! I was torn between that song and this one

My dad and I wore out Tesla's Five Man Acoustical Jam CD! That was a work of art.
I liked Tesla because they weren't a hair and makeup band, they were just great musicians playing music. I'm so glad my dad wasn't into that hair band crap lol
From 1987 then:

https://www.youtube.com/embed/6VwbyBGbqPYDamn. Yours is dark. That song is about abusive relationships
I like a lot of mellow music but can't stand vomit-inducing love songs.
Gosh, I can’t pick just one. Such a great decade for music.
