Why was Mr Robot so hyped?

I am finally watching this thing, and it makes me cringe so hard. The whole vibe is super edge lordy, and the narrator reminds me of Dexter or something.

I thought this was supposed to be a quality show, but it's just tacky AF.

You need to give it several episodes to get past the weird vibe and odd pacing. That is part of the hype. Creates two subsetsbof viewers. The ones who "didn't get it" and the ones who "did".

Personally I think its a so-so series about dystopian capitalism and mental illness. It is moderately interesting, in the same way something like Inception is. Basically it is Inception with a bit more brains and less pacing.

I don't find the vibe weird, I just find it lame. Like, the whole thing reminds me of CSI, that is the level of depth I feel like I am getting here.

The whole anarchic hacker ethos feels supremely sophomoric.

TBF I guess there are some interesting elements. But yeah, the emo stuff annoys me lol.
