What do you think of the TLC show Virgins?

It's a show that centers around 4 adult virgins in their 30s to 40s who are navigating love, dating, and self-discovery.

I'm personally not sure if this show was needed. I know there are some virgins that are in their 30s and 40s or beyond but I'm not sure if the show gives a good portrayal of what the average virgin goes through that are much older.

I think it's a cool concept but maybe should have stayed just a cool concept and not made into a show because of how production manipulates the drama to make it more interesting to viewers.

I don't really understand the need or purpose of this show. The entire premise seems odd. The way you explain it, it sounds almost like some kind of wildlife documentary or something, like virgins are a type of "other".

I will say that if these are people who have consciously, freely, and intentionally chosen to remain virgins because they are, for example, waiting until marriage for sex, there might actually be a somewhat interesting premise there. I don't know if this is still the mindset today, but even 10 or 15 years ago, it still seemed as though people who were waiting were seen as squeamish, nerdy, self-righteous prudes. If however this show is following, say, a faithful Christian who has prayed about and thought the matter through, I don't think it's the worst idea ever for others to see what their life is like.

But if this is just following around a bunch of (and I hate to use this word) incels to get entertainment out of how lonely they are, that's not something we need to see.

Sounds like they’re trying to appeal to the growing number of late bloomers in society. Not a terrible idea, though romance reality isn’t really my thing so I wouldn’t watch it. Still, there’s more than a few people who would eat it up. I imagine it would be the same crowd that enjoys “Love On The Spectrum” but without the ableist infantilization of the entire cast.

Haven't seen this show yet. I imagine it's just going to be more bad PR for women in general because it's going to show every damn Chad, Incel, and man in general just how complicated even the virgins are and make us all realize playing video games instead is much more fun.

I'm sorry but I have a bias. Every hymen I busted open in my heyday was a pain in the ass. Even the ready and willing make things way too complicated and I would wish I just banged the obvious slut that's been turned out more time than an old coat instead.

As someone who was a 35yr old virgin I know how difficult and daunting it can be to date with that hanging over you. A programme where they genuinlwant to support people in that situation would be great, if they are just exploiting these people it shouldn't happen.

Yeah but it's to the point where it's very scripted and you can tell that some of the love interests really wouldn't be going on more than one date if it wasn't for the cameras. I mean I suppose that's what makes it interesting but they need to try harder at making it more believable and real.

Maybe they're just poorer actors than the rest. Plenty of scenes that are retaken multiple of times, even tho they be "reality". Not a show I'll be interested in watching, but now I know TLC has made some questionable ass reality shows. Fun fact, this trash network TLC, that takes advantage of people (my 600 lbs life, hoarders, pregnant teenagers - all those sister wife shows), stands for the learning channel.

(I'm guilty of being trash TV watcher at times too, just not this particular show or channel in general - except true crime)
