Who loves the Killer?

Jerry Lee Lewis was born on September 29th, 1935, and passed 87 years later on October 28th, 2022. He was a freak on piano which made up for his voice which he cultivated and became perfect for honky tonk. I only provide the R&R side but if you care to check out that honky tonk music of his start with his rendition of 'Me and Bobby McGee' and continue.

The first video is the inaugural set of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame from 1995. Watch where he laughs at that big dumb idiot known as Springsteen on the solo. 😅 Clarence does squeeze a nice saxophone. In the fifties, JL was on his way to dethroning the king Elvis when he married his 13-year-old cousin Marla. Perfectly legal at the time the British rejected him and others followed suit. With broken heart he slummed in the honky tonk dives going from 10k a performance to 500 bucks a show. He was VERY insulted and never gave up and carved a substantial and very lucrative living out of Country music. If you notice in the video he gives a salute to the memory of those past events!

In the last video we have Jerry Lee with Dennis Quaid performing Jerry's signature hit 'Great Balls of Fire'. Dennis practiced 12 hours a day every day for 2 years to achieve this performance. He still plays today in the same Jerry Lee style!

Here he is in his Honky Tonk persona in 1969!
If you've ever walked across a gravel parking lot to enter a bar with the feeling you're 9 inches above the ground with the knowledge that not man nor beast could fuck with you today then you know that honky tonk feeling!

On this one his studio version is a lot better but here he chops that piano pretty hard. My mom and dad saw him in Longview at the Rio Palm Isle. Mom said that piano lay in splinters
