Why Aren't There More Sweet Love Songs Written By Women?

I have an entire spotify playlist of love songs. I've been listening to it a lot and crying lately lol. The other day I noticed that it was mostly men singing. I have a few songs made by women like Enchanted by Taylor Swift and I really like you, buy Carly Ray Jepson, but even those songs are more about their feelings and less about what they love about their partner.

To be fair I am a women who is bi, but lean more straight, so their might be some selection bias. But I just don't think there are as many songs like "just the way you are" "what makes you beautiful" "the ending you deserve" written by women.

I think it's because men don't want to listen to love songs like that, and women would rather hear a male voice sing a love song.

So you’re not completely off-base in suggesting that the primary market for love songs in the pop genre are aimed at women and subsequently musical artists take that into account, so women sing from the perspective of the woman in love, and men sing a serenade to the woman in love. If you want more songs that cater to the serenading of men, I would suggest looking into genres that market to them, like country.
