I listen to all their songs and rarely find a song I rate above average.

American songs were awesome in 1990s amd 2000s.

Beyonce's latest album is garbage like Taylor swift's latest album. Where is melody? It seems the notes are all accidental. Were they even written by humans?

I'm not even speaking about Cardu B and sexyyy. Singing about "wet" pussy? Really?

That is talent? Any moron can write lyrics about female genitalia especially in such explicit ways. Read the lyrics of Wap and wet juicy. Tell me if those lyrics sound like they demanded time, talent and inteligence.

I think some eras are better than others, but there is good music in every era. The top rated and most popular songs are not usually the best from a particular period.

It's difficult to compare current music with music from the past. That's because when we think of music from the past, we think of the songs that we really liked, and songs that survived the test of time. We don't think about all the garbage that came out in the same era.

One negative thing that has happened in the music industry is often talked about by the old timer musicians. This is a result of people downloading individual songs for a very low cost or free.

In the heyday of "classic rock" (I hate that term, but everyone knows what it means), people bought albums instead of single songs. Adjusting for inflation they were much more expensive than music is today. Modern digital downloads favors production of single hit songs, not albums. In the past, when people bought the full album, they realized that very often the best songs were not the hits, but a hidden gem somewhere on the album.

Much of the memorable nostalgic songs from the past were not the big hits at the time they came out. If you go look at Billboard charts from the past, it's amazing how much junk was in top positions. There night be a few well known good songs on the chart, but most will be garbage or average at best.

Current hits are just not a good way to judge an era of music. You have to wait 20-30 years to see what withstands the test of time.

I don't even really know any modern music. I don't listen to it, because it's just not my style. I'm sure some of it is good, but most of it doesn't sound all that appealing.

I prefer music from before the era of autotune, back when it actually took talent to become a singer, when they played their own instruments, and used their real voices, not this electronically enhanced crap.

Having grown up in an era of classic ballads, and the heyday of country music, it's true that lot of music today is very disappointing. Flipping on the radio and hearing endless tunes referring to how to "drop it" or "back it up" just makes me spin the dial over to the nearest easy listening channel where I'll hear my faves.

We're obligated to roll with the changes, but we're not obligated to listen to every bit of tripe that's allowed on the air.

Everything is so heavily processed, auto-tuned and due to the HEAVY quantization, it all sounds very fake. Anyone who thinks what they are hearing is actually real with 95% of modern pop stars must be clueless about music. It is basically AI at this point, so it lacks any soul or any feel.

If you want melody, try 1940s music. For lyrics, try the 1960s and 1970s.

Today's music is si heavily affected by rap, which has a beat to it, but not melody.

Labels want that which makes them the most money the most quickly, so the lyrics of most modern commercial music is about as deep as a thimble. But Lana del Rey has some pretty deep songs, and her style is not normally the type of music I listen to, but I make an exception because I love her voice.
