What is the most moronic thing you have ever heard a parental figure tell their child, or that you were told as a child?

For example, if you do ABC, then xyz will happen.

In my case I was reading a book recently, set in the 1800's, and a mother told her daughter that reading would damage her eye sight and rot her brain..

That soinds very similar to what I was told about television, granted television isn't something I did much as a child, I read, and still read a hell of a lot.

Please note, let's keep the politics out of this, this is meant to be light hearted.
