The first picture was from the regular wing of the museum. Although he was a captain in war, I don't feel nervous looking at him.
However, the 2nd picture was the first picture I noticed from the 1 exhibit open on the other side.
Do you sense something different from the 2nd Pic? Does it feel like a warning?

Although the first portrait is a military man he has a pleasant "at peace" expression on his face. He seems relaxed by his body posture. His hands are in a resting position.
The young lady however wears an expression perhaps of concern as she observes some one or thing from the corner of her eye. This shows something of interest or concern going on, so yeah, there is a bit more tension in the energy of the second.
