By far. Letterman is arguably the best late night host of all time. If not, he’s second only to Johnny Carson. Dave, however, benefited from the era in which he reigned. He was able to transition to other mediums and benefit from the streaming platforms. This has allowed him to escape the restrictions of late night network programming and reach a larger audience than Carson ever could have imagined.
Letterman has demonstrated professionalism well beyond Kimmel’s grasp. Jimmy is deliberately divisive. He alienates half of his potential audience by being deeply biased and hypocritical, as well as employing deliberate disinformation. It’s unfortunate because he has the talent to entertain. Too bad he thinks he’s better than everyone who doesn’t think and vote exactly like himself.

Letterman basically invented the modern late-night vibe: dry, weird, subversive, super sharp with interviews. His influence is all over today’s hosts.

Kimmel is fun, more pop-culture and viral-sketch oriented, and great with emotional moments, but Letterman’s legacy, timing, and originality make him stronger in my eyes 🎭📺

I liked Johnny Carson and Leno. Letterman is better than anyone on air today , but not great. Kimmel is ok , I like him better taking on Trump. So, he does have guts.
