Do you have any weird or depressing songs that you listen to?

I have this one song about repeating the same thing over and over again which makes you both go crazy but at the same time oddly gives you some kind of peace knowing what's to come because you've already been through it.

It's like you know doing the same thing over and over again is insanity and yet you can't seem to get out of it no matter how much you try.

That to me is like depression.

I listen to a tonne of dark music, but even the darkest songs are not depressing to me. Some Leonard Cohen can be bleak, but I even find joy in his tunes. Four o'clock in the afternoon and I didn't feel like very much I said to myself, "Where are you golden boy, where is your famous golden touch?" That actually makes a lot of sense… like being stuck in something that hurts, but at least it’s familiar so it feels safe in a weird way...

I think that’s why I’m drawn to certain “sad” songs too.

And My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski… that one always reminds me that my love…my intensity… is mine to keep. Not everyone can handle it, but that doesn’t make it too much.

Sometimes songs aren’t just about the pain… but it’s sometimes more a reflection of how deeply we feel.

I get that feeling so much 😶‍🌫️ Repetition can feel both safe and suffocating, like being wrapped in a blanket that’s slowly tightening.

For me it’s songs like “Motion Picture Soundtrack” by Radiohead, “Nude” also by Radiohead, “Liability” by Lorde, and “Exit Music (For a Film).” They’re heavy, strangely comforting, and make sadness feel almost cinematic 🎧💔

I rarely listen to depressing songs. But I love these two and listen to them every once in a while.

There's a reason why Kyle on South Park "Disintegration is the best album ever!".

My dad loved the Bee Gees. For some reason, this song really moved me growing up and still does. I wouldn't say it's a depressing song but it does make me sad and that is weird.

do I see them as such... not necessarily, even if they are... to me, they're music, they're expression and sure, they do have a tone... but they do not always weird me out, they don't get me depressed... if that makes sense

I've never experienced depression im happy 98% of the time. I feel so bad for anyone that goes the that its like they're in the sunk in place and want to get out but can't like they're trapped in there own mind.
