Doesn't everyone there already know their place and line, why do they have the mop head aggressively swinging a stick for, the swinging doesn't even look readable 😂

From what I know, they help keeping the whole orchestra in sync with the intensity because everyone knows their place and lines but there will always be a little unwanted variation is the intensity of instrument playing/singing. The rise and fall of stick in the hand of orchestra conductor helps minimise this variation. But yeah, it can be resolved by frequent rehearsals and practice but they often practice with the orchestra conductor. You kinda make sense now.
