For me is "Last kiss"- by Pearl Jam. It reminds me of the road trips with my dad.
It's very, very rare that a song has any emotional impact on me, but there's one that never fails to hit me in the feels.
Some people will probably laugh, because of the band, but the song "Lullaby" by Nickleback is like a gut punch to me.
I've been in a really dark place in my brain on more than one occasion, and for some reason, that's the only song that actual feels relevant, and somehow manages to get to me.

This song always reminds me of my ill-fated first serious relationship. I eventually discovered that she was living with me just to have a place to live until she could return to her ex. In retrospect, she would have been an awful match for me, but I was in love, and you know that love is always deaf, dumb, blind, and smell-deaf!
Only because he introduced me to this song and when our relationship ended, it hurts every time I hear it.

I first heard it during a tiny winter-themed film retrospective at an art house cinema, and it’s been glued to December in my mind ever since. The mix of regret, longing, and that fragile, almost offhand way she sings “I’m so hard to handle” feels brutally honest.
It hits especially hard when I’m painting alone at night with just that song looping and old memories creeping in. 🎧🖌️
