Are older GTA fans actually hyped for GTA 6, or is the magic gone?

Anyone truly hyped for GTA 6 has to be a kid who didn’t grow up excited for VC and SA and 4 and 5. We’re in our 30’s and 40’s now, we’re too old and too used to enshittification to be excited. GTA 6 will be the least culturally significant GTA game. GTA 5 was the last real GTA release. GTA 6 is going to be more of a memorial. GTA 7, if it exists, probably won’t come out until like 2050. It will just be a memorial too. You can’t expect people to wait 15-20 years for something. it’s cruel. I‘m 31, I got into Vice City at 8, San Andreas had me so hyped and truly lived up to and even went beyond my dreams. 4 was different and disappointing in some ways but still great. 5 was very disappointing, a great open world but not the GTA I fell in love with. 6 won’t be anything closer to 15+ years worth of hype.

I’m also an Elder Scrolls fan and this goes doubly for ES6. This is so disappointing. I deserved better. The fans deserved better. We thought these games would truly be a part of our lives.

it's been a long time, lmao

games have become better in very few ways... but also became worse, in so many ways and expensive as well, I really don't mind their cost, and it would not be a problem either, however... I very much mind it when there's a lot of paywalls, and then these do not meet the value/cost expectations

I don't like to overpay for disappointment and I definitely don't like to wait years upon years to be mildly impressed either

Where's your intel on GTA6 from?

I've only played GTA5. It was fun, glad I played it. It didn't immerse me like RDR2, or even ES5 as far as that goes.

I am hyped for GTA 6, but it’s a very different kind of hype. Less “kid waiting for Christmas” and more “curious, cautious adult.” I don’t expect magic like I felt at 12, because life isn’t like that anymore.

Rockstar can still drop something incredible, but nothing will ever hit like the PS2 era did. That was a mix of age, timing, culture, and zero expectations. Even if GTA 6 is brilliant, it’ll never feel as life-changing as SA or VC because we’ve changed.

So the magic isn’t fully gone, it’s just… older, more jaded, and quieter. I’ll still play the hell out of it though 😅🎮
