my favorite game of all time has to be "metro: last light" It was the first story-driven game I ever played (I was around 14), and even though I’ve played more popular or "deeper" ones since, it still means the most to me
I went into it completely blind, without even playing "metro 2033" first, and I just got lost in its world the characters, the atmosphere, the dialogue… everything about it stuck with me

At 10yo: Legend of Zelda (1987). Because getting your hands on an exploration, combat and riddle based game when your other options are simple linear platformers or shooters feels like falling in love versus flirting with someone. Manufacturing golden looking cartridges was a very clever move also, the kid I was remembered that for a life time.

At 15yo: Dune (1992). Because of its specific atmosphere, it was an interactive trip into a world I enjoyed, since I had read about it in novels of the same name. Something unreal, trippy about the soundtrack, surely one of the most influential OSTs in my musical quest. How it was mixing genres also, point and click plus strategy in one game was a cool thing, I haven't seen this mix again in my gaming life.

At 18yo: Final Fantasy VIII (1999). The card minigame was such a great game design idea back then, it gave value to boring NPCs since some of them had really strong cards to win, that you could then convert into ability maximisation. So much maxing that I enjoyed glitching through the game, like beating an unbeatable boss. I loved the loooong scenario unfolding, and THE super cute romance I will ever see in any video game.
Later in life, there would be other names, plenty of others to name, but 3 is a good number.

I have to tap into what I feel, for such an important topic that is a video game. Because while it looks like a hobby, or an industry for some, it is also a significant art form to me.
And art strikes. I think that's even its main purpose. So I must reciprocate, and give back at least a little of all the good things I received.

Soul Calibur / Soul blade series - Fighting game with best story, beautiful graphics, and interesting characters)
Life Is Strange - Pure mystery and cozy atmosphere.
Beyond: Two Souls - Supernatural, intriguing story, you just have to try it.
Until Dawn - One of the best horror games ever.
and some other games (The Quarry, Dark Pictures Anthology series, Heavy Rain, Suikoden, Final Fantasy series, Resident Evil series, Tomb Raider series, Street Fighter series, Mortal Kombat series, Tekken series etc).

My personal favorite is The Last of Us (the first one). I’m obsessed with strong storytelling, and that game felt like playing a perfectly shot indie film. The emotional weight, the quiet moments, the moral ambiguity, the detailed environments, and that ending… it just branded itself into my brain 🎮✨
While I love a lot of older games like Mega Man 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics (shoutout to @Still-alive there) my most played game is Final Fantasy 14. I've dumped WAY too many hours into that one over the years with no signs of stopping.
I usually like what I call "Quick Fix" games and then I have a special place for what I'd call "vedge out" games.
The Quick Fix games are usually just to pass a short ammount of time... just that quick game rush. Currently for me that's Battlefield 6 and it used to be the Division 2.
Vedge games is when I have like a whole day to myself and nothing I need to do... Fallout 4 or Skyrim type of games... currently for me, I'd probably just play Fallout 4. These games are also great for when the internet goes out for a long period of time... major storms, where all the lights go out but you and your battery bank enables you to be a gamer while all the other people are lighting candles just to see where the toilet paper is when they're taking a dump.
@mon1to if you are talking about “the evil within” i remember i reached to that one ugly huge monster i couldn’t kill so I abandoned the game for ever 😄 But that was a few years back
I wouldn't recommend MGS 1, if you're not ready to go really retro though, since this opus features the usually horrendous 3D graphics of this generation lol

my eyes can instantly, what is real and not for graphics... so, photo-realism IN GAMES, it's not real, unless we play the part and tell ourselves "oh god... it is ALMOST like the real world" and I just can't do that, lol
I did prefer, and still prefer... when games looks like the virtual realms that they are and don't ask me to fool myself, after paying thousands of dollars

I liked to play a game called F-19 Stealthfighter. It was a long time ago and the game ran on MS-DOS.
At the time I had a crappy job that had no vacations or sick days. I used to fly missions over different parts of the world and encounter enemy planes. Sometimes I would encounter a civilian airplane. I used to like to imagine that the 747 on my screen was full of trust funded yuppies on their way to some tropical vacation spot before I would hit it with a couple of sidewinders.
Well, when I played it on PC it wasn't in hours it was in like weeks of accumulated time... Very embarrassing. Now I play it on Switch so I'm not sure... Probably a lot
there’s nothing embarrassing about that I had around 600 hours in fortnite and probably twice that in league xd I don't know I thought you had it in steam
That's a tough one but I'll say Fallout 4. It's where free roam and story based met active npc's in more than just fetch quests. My fave go to is still NES games.
Uh It's a star wars RPG and I'm a huge star wars nerd and I really like the character Revan he's got a really interesting story and is just a cool character in general.
