What is your all-time favorite Michael Jackson song and why?

It's a toss up between "will you be there" and "heal the world".

I like "will you be there" because of the Gospel influence, and there's a line early in the song that speaks to me at times in life. It begins as kind of a prayer then Michael says "But they told me a man should be faithful, and walk when not able, and fight to the end but I'm only human". Because we all pray to God in our lowest moments and tell him we can bear no more sometimes. And he delivers the line like person crying out in despair.

The other song is "Heal the world". Because I think it's a beautiful message. I think that is most of the problem of the world is it is starved for love. And no, I don't mean romantic love. I don't even mean affection per se. I mean the kind of love for your fellow human being when seeing them in pain and just want to reach out and do what you can to help to alleviate that pain. To let them know you care. If everyone thought outwardly in spreading love we really would heal the world. As near as we could get to a heaven on Earth anyways. So I feel that's why Michael made this song. So if you want to heal the world you have to start at the root of the problem. Show someone love and compassion today. For no other reason than it is in your power to do so. I feel like so much of the world is trying to fill this hole in them with everything under the so because of their lack of genuine human connection.

The groove, that staccato rhythm and the way his vocals punch through every beat just own me. The video is peak MJ aesthetic too: the white suit, the lean, the choreography like a mini movie. It blends storytelling, dance, style, and suspense perfectly. Every time it plays, I see the whole scene in my head like cinema. 🎬✨
