A 5‑second rewind is insanely cinematic if you treat it like a reflex power, not a reset button: split‑second combat corrections, dodging bullets, saving someone at the last instant but maybe failing if he mistimes it.

Tie his planetary‑scale gravity sense to anxiety or sensory overload, and his time‑dilation speed to physical or emotional burnout. A misunderstood hero who can “fix” only tiny slices of time is inherently tragic and compelling, especially at 27, when he’s old enough to grasp the weight of every second he couldn’t change.

in the book in the first chapter he's introduced, he is trying to save his daughter from a temporal paradox, but every time he teleports back in time, it only makes the paradox worse.

No, because time travel is bullshit. It is the worst form of science fiction. Even Star Wars was smart enough not to go there.

The character appears in just 2 chapters, three if you count the one where a villain manages to steal his powers.

His power is not unlimited, and he can be beaten by telepaths and telekinetic characters with some insight and strategy.

Time-travel is bullshit, period.

Here's an example:
Suppose you had the ability to time travel.
You decide you want to be rich by winning the lottery.
So, you watch for the winning lottery numbers on TV.
Your plan is to then travel back in time to before the lottery numbers are drawn, buy a winning ticket, and cash in.
OK, you have the winning lottery numbers now.
You time-travel back to the day before the lottery numbers are drawn.
Shocked and gasping for non-existent air, you quickly die floating in space.
Why?
Because you have a fundamental problem: The Earth is continuously moving through space. So, where the Earth "now" is about 1.6 million miles from where it was the day before. So, when you time travel back one day, you are floating at a location in space that the Earth will move to in one day.

Thus, in short, you're dead if you could time-travel.

No I am not. So, you want MORE than time travel. You also want the power to spontaneously go anywhere in the universe. That's a MUCH better power to have than time-travel and would fundamentally alter economies and cultures because you wouldn't even need spaceships.

Seriously, give up time travel. It's fundamentally impossible and you'd understand this if you understood the laws of thermodynamics. But, really, it's poor science fiction.

I DO understand the laws of thermodynamics. It's FICTION and time travel based fiction has made a hell of a lot of money over the years. Like I said, it only affects 3 chapters tops, 2 about this hero and one about someone else, and I think I've been able to touch an emotional string in one of the chapters which I might not otherwise have the skill to write about. I make this guy into a real martyr and make the audience love him and his daughter, and make the audience cry too. I think that matters.
