Why do the following bands dress up?

I've never seen Daft Punk.
As far as I know, Split Enz only ever wears a bit of eyeliner and lipstick.
Kiss dresses up because they were glam metal shock-rock band. And, they were inspired by Alice Cooper.
Blue Man Group dresses up because they ARE blue men!!! I was gonna audition for them but, I was too tall for them.
I "dressed up" because I just gradually discovered it was the best way for me to be able to play drums the way I do! As my singer used to call it, "It's the science of being FunkyMonkee!" (Except that he used my real name.)
Pants and even shorts were too confining, a t-shirt would constantly bunch up across my chest every time I did a roll around the toms after I got sweaty, the sweat from my arms, chest and legs would end up in my hands making it impossible to hold my sticks and then giving me blood blisters that'd pop making it even harder to hold my sticks so, I wore a leotard to soak up the chest sweat and some of the arm sweat, a pair of tights to soak up the leg sweat AND free up my legs for all the double bass drumming i do and the skater skirt to keep my bits a bit more covered AND to free up my legs, even more!! I kept getting holes in the toes of the tights and, I couldn't afford $10 a pair per show so, I switched to pantyhose that, at $3.00 a pair, lasted me several shows and were way less hotter than tights!!
