This has been on my list of questions to ask for a while, but whatever, I'll still give a shoutout to @thegreenyogi for her recent question.
What are the best movie adaptations of a book, TV show, game, or other source material that you have seen? And what is the worst film adaption you've seen?
The best ones I've seen so far are The Hunt for Red October and Lord of the Rings.

And so far, the worst...THE... WORST... I've seen is The Count of Monte Cristo, the Jim Caviezel version.

Thank you for the shout out. For me personally no movie can beat the books on any score. It's always so disappointing.
You're very welcome, bro-ette 🙌🤗
Truth be told, it's only in the last year or so that I've become a more avid reader, so I'm sure I'll develop more of that sensitivity as time goes.
Lol!! Reading takes time and perseverance but it's worth it. 🤭
I'm on my 9th book this year so far.
That's a good rating!!
The best movie adaptation: True Grit (the 2010 version, not the one from the 1960s). It's more representative of the Charles Portis novel.
Worst: As an adaptation, both the 1990s movie and the Hulu series of The Handmaid's Tale, aren't necessarily bad, but there are a lot of misrepresentations from Atwood's 1985 book.
I like the Tom Clancy adaptations (the guy is a lousy writer), like Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games or The Hunt for Red October. Lord of the Rings was excellent (the material was deemed non-adaptable for the screen). Jurassic Park was a softcore disappointment from the adult-themed book.
The Passion of the Christ was (for me) the best adaptation of the Crucifixion of Jesus and the brutality of it.. And the powerful emotion of the action of his sacrifice..
The worst adaptation is actually a live action adaptation of Dragon Ball... Wait... I don't think it exis-
LoTR was good but missed a lot from the book; Project Hail Mary was kinda good but also missed a lot and I think the movies about Jesus are always going to be way better than the book so not too many movie adaptations have I read so far.
The worst that I’ve known about is gorilla at large attack of the killer, tomatoes, and empire of the ants. The best is Rocky and Braveheart and some other good ones
Best was the Harry Potter series.
Worst may have been Wuthering Heights. The original novel was supposedly unfilmable.
The worst is Dune. The best was a movie with Dustin Hoffman that nobody saw called Marathon Man
