While I am into music, I am aware that the genre I listen to does most likely not match the one you favor.
I have been raised listening to classical music that my mother used to listen to, mainly artists like Mozart, Beethoven and Vivaldi. I have learned to appreciate the symphonic tunes and nice harmony of tones of various classical instruments.
Those harmonious tones and the softer kind of music compared to hard rock, metal and spoken words that is fashionable today have led me to try to single out every instrument. I particularly like the combination of the more than 10 different instrument types from string to wind instruments found in classical music.
That kind of music helps me to relax and also to concentrate when I am studying.
Pardon my snark, which is not meant for you whatsoever, but is it a load off your mind now that your preferential style of music has had judgement on it revised by someone into classical music? Are congratulations in order? Can't tell you the number of times said person has admonished others on the sins of judgment. LOL
I like psychedelic pop/synth pop like tame impala and Magdalena bay. It's just freeing and chill. Can't really explain it.
I like Melanie Martinez too but more so for her creativity all around. Very unique yet awkward.
I love love Jiminy hendrix- watch tower, voodoo child and so on. Also Carlos Santana and jefferson airplane so I'm very much into psychedelic music

I guess I’m probably a hip-hop guy above all else.
In my opinion, the lyricism, when done right, is probably the best of any genre I can think of. some of it is incredibly creative and clever with wordplay and metaphors, etc. I’d say maybe one of the flaws hip-hop can have is redundancy of material. It typically depicts life in the area where the artists are from, which is awesome, but after decades, the story has been told many, many times and it’s tough to keep that fresh. And the rest of it is usually just braggadocious bluster about hackneyed topics like sex, drugs, money, cars, women, or just being the best rapper. So it ends up being more about how you say something than what you’re saying, which may actually be mundane.

As far as the instrumentals, I’m even more impressed by the producers. I know in most cases it’s not a lot of instrument being played, which I know offends a lot of people; But I still give a lot of credit for just being able to envision a background sound for someone to rap or sing over in general, whether they compose it with instruments or if they use drum machines and samples from oldest songs. That’s fine with me, I’m not the Art Police, lmao. I’m not qualified to be any part of any peer reviews, so I’m just Joe Music Consumer looking for a catchy song. I’ll leave the gatekeeping to actual musicians, haha. Anyway…You can make an entirely new song with an entirely different vibe off of a song from 50 years ago, and a lot of times it’s even better than the original.
Maybe it’s just the way my brain works, but I couldn’t do that in a million years; but I can and have written lyrics and rapped before, and come up with something from nothing in that way, however amateur. So I think that makes the idea of writing song lyrics is less impressive to me then composing something instrumental. I’m impressed by all of it if it’s done well, I’m just saying I probably appreciate composing music more than writing lyrics.
Electro music. I want to rock up and don't want bother my mind with any lyrics.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/llyEEfbFKqAI enjoy so many genres of music, from classical to punk to jazz to rock, and many things in between. Whatever moves me or stirs me with a positive vibe is what I think you mean by resonates, but I can't pinpoint it any better than that. It can be words or word patterns, sounds or sound patterns, but I don't have words for it. That's one big reason why I, like yourself I think, love music: we don't have to figure to why, and personally, I don't think I need to :)
@Nikki1989 It mimics the rhythm of my heartbeat and the movement of my body with my dance partner
British Punk the rawness if the music and the anti establishment lyrics
I like the dude-ness of rock and Country.
