What "essential movie" have you NOT seen?

A few years ago, I asked what essential movie could you just not get into. Well, in keeping with Hollywood trends, here is the sequel to that question.

What "essential movie" have you simply not seen?

What classic or highly-regarded movie, what movie that had a significant impact on pop culture, or otherwise has a legacy behind it have you just missed up to this point?

I have not seen Citizen Kane 😬

There are a bunch! I have always preferred realistic acting to the overacting common in theater. So there are a lot of movies that are too old for me to even attempt to watch because i know that the acting mannerisms are going to be exaggerated and unrealistic. I’m certain that’s because the most respected actors of the earliest eras started in stage productions where they really had to exaggerate their body language and project their voices for the back rows and balconies to perceive. As more actors went directly into TV and movies, relatable realism was increasingly more sought after. I came into the medium well into that transition.
So i have never seen the likes of “Gone with the Wind”, “Ben Hur”, “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Casablanca”, etc. There are a number of older movies that i did enjoy despite the overacting, but i don’t watch them very often. “The Wizard of Oz”, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and the original “Little Shop of Horrors” are a few of those. I have to be in a certain kind of mood to tolerate it at all.

There's quite a few of them: Ciitizen Kane, Gone With The Wind, Casablanca, Dial M For Murder, lots of those classic old black and white movies. They just hold no interest for me. Maybe, if my fiance comes back to me and wants to watch some of them, I'll most likely watch them with her. She likes those old movies. I like old movies, too but, none of these are all that interesting to me.

The Godfather. I may never. The original Star Wars too. Not sure I am interested. I haven't seen Citizen Kane either nor would it have come to mind. I've always meant to see Lawrence of Arabia

Citizen Kane, God father, all star trek movies, all but one mad max movie etc.

You've not seen any of the Star Trek movies? Not even Wrath of Khan or First Contact... which, unpopular opinion here... I think gives WOK some good competition compared to the others?

Nope. I like star wars more, but that's mostly legends novels. Star trek is way too boring, like dune.

Got it. For what it's worth, a lot of the movies are more action-oriented, since they're trying to reach wider audiences. WOK is, to be fair, something of a cat-and-mouse type of film, but First Contact is very much a Star Wars style.
