Makoto Shinkai’s use of light, color and cityscapes is insane, almost like moving paintings. The body-swap plus time-twist plot sounds silly on paper, but the emotional build-up, the music by RADWIMPS and that comet sequence just hit so hard.

Even non–anime fans usually get hooked by this one 🌠📽️
