Why are so many classic heroes or Disney characters now turned into horror villains?

In Brightburn they obviously created an evil villain out of Superman. Then they went on to Disney charcters. They made a horror movie out of Cinderalla, Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, the curse of Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and now Pinocchio. What's next, an evil version of The Lion King too, evil Simba too?

Love this question. It's probably just the next phase of Hollywood making good things dark. It's the same as how back in the late 1990s they started making villains/"anti-heroes" being the good guy, or trying to tell the stories as if there's a reason for why they're bad that we're supposed to empathize with and see them as actually good people. The bad guys in Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Lucifer, Fast and Furious, Suicide Squad, etc. all became major favorites.

It's simply brainwash to make people view villainy/evil as good or more interesting than truly good characters.

The original stories where Disney took from were much darker to begin with anyway? And the obvious reason is one main horror trope that has existed forever is to make something we associate not scary as so. Like how clowns were twisted, or if you go really back simply trees which throughout the long history of fiction trees which of course we see in our lives that harm no one are twisted into dark forests and danger to further interpretations.
