Have you ever watched a movie on an actual film projector?

This one might be just for the older folks.
I definitely watched a lot of movies that were shown from film projectors in movie theaters. I don’t know exactly when digital projectors became the majority. I might have watched dozens of movies without noticing that there were no “cigarette burns” in the corner of the screen before reel transitions.
I was in skool when the transition from film projectors to VCR happened there. The first movies i watched in skool were on projectors. I actually envied the kids who got to help teachers with the projectors. Eventually we were watching movies on televisions with VCRs connected to them. I don’t recall precisely when the transition happened, but i’m pretty sure it was when i was in middle skool. I know that some families had their own film projectors back in the day, but i don’t think i knew anyone who had one. The first home movies i saw were on a VCR.

Sure, as recently as the 1970s all movies (films as we used to call them) were shown on a projector. The proof of that is that the film would break midway through the movie and you had to wait for the projectionist to fix it. Good times!

Many times. That's all we had when I was in school and I remember going to the movies and they'd have intermission so they could change reels.

Yes, many. I too recall the tv and vcr. I enjoyed the projector much more. Technical difficulties could extend the whole process and get you through the entire class.
