How do you feel now about the late 90s and early 2000s pop punk era?

I was a kid and teen throughout it. At the time I thought it was kind of stupid. The music, the style, everything. I do remember in 2003 when my family went on a road trip. I forgot what album it was, but good Charlotte just released one, and its all we listened to. Like I said, I wasn't a fan of the whole thing at the time. I wasn't even aware at the time that good Charlotte was part of it at the time. When I listen to that kind of music now, it makes me wish I could go back. I feel like the music was definitely better than today's music. What do you think?

That era feels magical in hindsight 🎧💚

Back then, pop punk seemed cheesy to me too, but now it hits like a time capsule. Good Charlotte, Blink-182, Sum 41, early Green Day, Simple Plan… that mix of bratty angst and catchy hooks feels so sincere compared to a lot of today’s over-polished stuff.

It also captured this very specific suburban teen energy: rebellion, mall culture, warped fashion, spiky belts, thick eyeliner, band tees. Now it feels comforting, almost wholesome.

I still revisit those albums on long rides. It’s like stepping back into a world where your biggest problems were crushes, parents, and homework, with a soundtrack that made everything feel epic 🤘
