I always got hit and it really changed the relationship between me and my father, I'd avoid his questions, avoid him and get really anxious when he calls me (like at home, by my name, as if I've done something bad).
I've always been of the opinion that those who resort to physical violence to teach their kid a lesson are just lazy parents.
... which is proven by the amount of people on here claiming that children "won't listen" or "won't respect you" unless there's some sort of physical punishment involved. Absolute bullshit. I was seriously afraid of both my mom and my dad as a kid when they got angry, and they never laid a finger on me. I was fully aware of the consequences because they had laid them out for me in a very serious way, so when I did something bad, I knew that shit was going to hit the fan. So did my brother.
no no no and no
i was spanked with literally anything and i turned out just fine
i don't hurt people
im not afraid of my parents
i have no parental issues
and they did teach me about life
No, you did not turn out fine. You turned out stupid and with terrible self esteem.
@John_Doesnt lol sure thing bud whatever you say
I dont know anything about you, but really, just because you think you're fine, or that you dont take anger out on people, it doesn't actually mean that that's the truth- I was mean to literally like everyone a couple years ago, and I didn't even realise that I was being mean, I just thought it was normal, and I wouldve said exactly what you did
Most people who spank their kids. Will ignore what you have to say. No matter how logical it is. And the people who don't spank. They don't need it anyway. Because they don't hit them.
Spare the rod and spoil the child. Nobody heard bout This?
EXCELLENT TAKE!
thank you!! :)
If I can go back to the past id show my parents this take
I just don't understand how someone can actually hit their kids. If you love them, why would you want to hurt them in any way?
you should learn what straw man arguments are
I don't agree. Spanking usually teaches a child to act right in my experience.
I call this a bullshit. This is why we dont need libertard shit. One thing is hitting kids as a punishment, and other is family violence. Punishment is good. Words don't do shit.
Right! I've literally watched bad ass kids do a 180 after their parents started puh-powing that little disrespectful ass
@dancing_in_nebulas exactly!! It worked on me and brother, my parents, their parents... It works. Words don't
Lol right! Whats a thing too, is I can remember every major spanking and what I did wrong, but can't recall anything I was grounded for lol so it makes it easy to remember what not to do lol
Well, it's nice to know that people have different opinions from my own. But 100% disagree.
Discipline is necessary, but hitting is abuse and not discipline.
@wolfcat87 Repeating the same useless statement again. If everyone thought like you there'd be no justice in this world.
@vyvyn Well that's just your opinion. Doesn't make it a fact to any degree. A spanking on the posterior is not abuse. Hell some people do it for fun. Balling my fist up - now that's abuse. Slapping them in the face - now that's abuse. Locking them in the basement - now that's abuse. But spanking that a$$ - that's respect. And I'm gonna get respect as a parent one way or the other. Or CPS (Child Protective Services) can have their a$$'s. Less parental stress/worry and less financial responsibility for me. If I'm unable to recieve any type of parental respect then they'll be doing me a favor. But I will recieve parental respect - even if it means physical discipline. If you or any one else don't like - Too Bad.
@vyvyn Vyvyn, take your own advice about reposting repeatedly. Your need to stalk my posts is disturbing. Can you please respond with a fully formed opinion and links to facts to back your stance rather than whining about what I am saying that is based on years of education and work experience?
@vyvyn Sorry vyvyn, that last statement was meant for @wolfcat87
@vyvyn I agree - Physical discipline is usually necessary from time to time.
Over 170 scientific studies, all of the experts who performed the studies, the experts who peer reviewed the studies, and 35 countries that outlawed the practice disagree. All of the courses I've taken as a professional also teach these facts. So, my opinion is indeed backed by facts.
@wolfcat87 Your opinion is backed by other faulty opinions which were turned into law. Then no wonder why society has gone completely to mentally disorded shit.
But if CPS wants them then they can have'em.
Okay, I guess you must be a world renowned doctor/scientist/psychologist, and us educated people who are experts in the field all must defer to your brilliance. I'm certain we've never heard of you though...
@wolfcat87 Name or no name - I just call like it is. Society's in the shitter and us millennials are the worst of the worst. It's only gonna get worse from this point as well. "What's right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right".
You believe in may be popular but we'll see how right it is as time goes on.
@wolfcat87 And you're educated? Oh so mothers with extensive experience in parenting have less expertise in rearing a child than "world renowned doctor/scientist/psychologist"s who "study" parenting. Do you even know what being educated means?
Hmmm, millenials are not the worst of the worst. Slave owners who killed 6 million blacks in the trans-Atlantic slave trade, people who committed genocide of 6 million Native Americans, people, people who killed 6 million Jews, people who participated in the torture of the Salem witch trials and the Inquisition, etc. The hundreds of generations where women were used as legally beatable sex slaves and child bearing livestock were pretty bad... Those are the worst of the worst. Romanticizing the past does not mean that modern kids are the worst of anything. They are different, but they are not the worst.
@wolfcat87 This shows exactly how uneducated you really are with what you're trying to compare. I won't even waste my time trying to break that down for you. It would just be a complete and utter waste of my time. However you choose to feel is fine.
I'm actually very well educated. Do you truly feel that millennials are worse than all of those examples? You yourself claimed that they are the "worst of the worst". I only pointed out that that have always been worse both in and out of the U. S. Millenials aren't running around massacring people or starting wars. They are getting educations at higher rates than previous generations and are pretty decent overall if a bit sheltered.
i agree, also most of the time parents just take their anger out on their kids and that is cowardly.
A spank on the bottom is required from time to time, but not a beating ever... in my opinion
Discipline is necessary, but hitting is abuse and not discipline. There is nothing that can be taught through hitting someone that cannot be taught through other means.
170 scientific studies show a consensus that spankings of any type are always detrimental, and they are not a part of good parenting.
@wolfcat87 Repeating something that reflects your level-order level of reasoning skills shows your ability to discern the the possible effects of a decision made and any stakes of the situation is considerably inhibited. You're not doing anybody any justice by restating something that does not benefit the mass.

@vyvyn I'm an extremely credible source. The sentence makes perfect sens, so you are really grasping at straws.
I've worked with children for over 20 years at work in schools and daycares as well as at home. I've taken child care classes from middle school through college, because children, psychology, biology, and various topics that relate to the development of humans are my field of expertise. I'm highly respected as a child care provider in any capacity, and any expert who sees me working with children often defers to me. This includes education employees, doctors, and therapists. So, please educate yourself before you advocate hurting children and hurting their futures. Our children are everything. Our future is nothing without proper care of them.
Also, note that you are doing the exact same thing in stalking my posts. I made so many, because each person who made the type of comment I am responding to should hear the truth. I'm not sure why that offends you.
You know what really works the softest way I know, a few branches of the birch tree.
Hitting kids is what toxic people do.
I will hit my keds and if my wife tries to stop me I will hit her too
bruh
*kids ^ What?
Oh well. I guess I learn the hard way!
Many doo. But they don't haf-ta.
Sometimes it's the only way to get the little cunts to shut the fuck up.
So many children deserve to be hit
Great take. I obviously agree.
