Do you think overly-protective fathers who spoil their daughters make women into self-entitled?

Question

narcissistic brats who expect men to treat them like princesses and shower them with expensive gifts with all their earnings they make every single time while the woman doesn't give the man anything in return or do overly-protective fathers generally raise women to be lady-like, have self-respect and treat men and women how she likes to be treated? 

I often hear in parenting roles that fathers teaches their daughters how to be treated by a man, and mothers teaches their sons how to treat a woman. I get the impression that neither the mother or the father ever bothers teaching their daughters how to treat the different gender how she likes to be treated and pretty much have no expectations from either parents while boys/men are expected to be the "perfect gentlemen" based on this statement that I've heard from a person. 

I don't know though, what do you guys think?

I think it does neither. Really every family is different so I wouldn't put all in pot, but in general think it creates bad choices in men in those girls.

It's proven that girls date men that are a lot like their fathers look wise as well as behavior wise. If you grow up with a very dominant protective father you're likely to look for that in partner. The thing is just being dominant and protective is one thing if it's your dad, if it's a romantic partner it can easily drift into abusiveness
It also teaches girls that they can't r shouldn't make their own opinion. As Will Smith said We let Willow cut her hair. When you have a little girl, it’s like how can you teach her that you’re in control of her body? If I teach her that I’m in charge of whether or not she can touch her hair, she’s going to replace me with some other man when she goes out in the world"

As for why parents don't usually teach their daughters how to treat men, I think that's what's left of patriarchy and gender roles we know from the 50s. It has always been important that men treat their wives well because they've had all the legal power and were much stronger, while womens role wouldn't go much further than doing what he says.
Women would take the passive role, from being asked out to being married. He would ask, her decide on the date, he would initiate intimacy. Which is why it's more important that he behaves like a gentleman and respectful

My dad was really over-protective (not the spoiling sort) and he raised me to be a clueless adult. My mom was the one who taught me about how to be a proper person. Based on how my dad has treated my mom, I have learned that it is INSANELY important for a woman to be able to stand on her own two feet and support herself because you never want to be tied to someone who constantly throws the fact that they are the sole breadwinner in your face. I have also learned that love isn't what you need for a marriage to work. You need an equal partner in life who wants to see you succeed and isn't in competition with you. My mom always taught me to treat others how I wish to be treated, and so, I literally treat -EVERYONE- regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity the same way -UNLESS- I'm given reason not to. However, my parents didn't really discuss guys with me til now, and I've already made it clear that their failure of a marriage has me pining to be a nun, but apparently this isn't acceptable in our culture. Whatever.

Partly, I learned on my own that you treat others how you would like to be treated. I wouldn't stand staying married to a man that had to remind me that I was poor and because of him, I'm at an acceptable status nor kept telling me to shut up on every single argument.

I'll never marry a man like my father. He has some other good qualities but don't want a replica of him.

Sometimes when they argue, it can make me lose hope because I don't want to repeat their marriage and failure of communicating their difference in a proper and mature level.

I totally disagree with this, I might be a little spoiled but I still know how to treat other people and even though I wouldn't mind being treated like a princess my bf/husband is also gonna get treated like a king and I don't expect him to spend his money on me, I can make my own.

I think a *much* bigger problem is fathers who don't show their daughters they love them. They grow up, and the only way they know how to feel "love" is through sex.

I know girls personally like that. Very sad.

Yes I definitely think that it sends the wrong message I was an only child for 14 years and never was spoiled my father and mother taught me how important it was to be independent and not expect anything from a man and that its important for a man and a woman to be able to spoil themselves and be able both bring to the table.

Over-protective fathers don't spoil their daughters. The unprotective ones that just let their daughter do whatever she wants tend to spoil their daughters.
