All my parents care about is their reputation?

So my parents recently found out that I have a boyfriend and that I went over to his house and initially they were mad at me for lying to them about it but now all they are talking about is how I've disgraced the family by going over to a boys house and that I've ruined the family name. Even though no one outside of our family knows about it they are making this out to be a big deal and theyre not listening to me when I tell that its normal and that nobody even cares. I was talking to my cousin about this situation and my mom got mad because she doesn't even want her to know, it's been a month since this happened yet this is all they still talk about. I don't know how to communicate to them that this isn't as big of a deal that they're making out to be (the fact that I have a boyfriend and that other people don't really care whether I do or not)

They aren't concerned about their reputation. They're worried about you. I can see why they were upset. You were hiding things from them and they found out indirectly. Anyone would be irked by that.

While you're under your parent's roof you have to follow their rules regardless of how logical they are...

Just bide your time until they get over it, follow their rules, and move on.

they were over-reacting and shouldn't be freaking out like that.. and yes i'll admit having something kept from you is kindof annoying but they should NOT have reacted like that

Yeah... until you're pregnant and your parents really go crazy. You might be way under 18, but still.
