Why does he like messing with me?

My guy best friend always messes around with me like he'll act like he's gonna take something of mine or joke around with me or something like that. I asked him "you like messing with me don't you?" Today and he said yes. Is he just treating me like a best friend or could he be starting to like me?

Depends. How often does he do it? Have you ever overheard him talking about you? He could just be being friendly. Need more info.

he does whenever he could and i did hear him talking to someone and the guy he was talking to said something about me being my best friend/crushes or something but i didn't hear what my best friend/crush said

Well I know for a fact that many guy friends I know act differently around a girl they like: they act like you stated above. See if he gets embarrassed when you ask his opinions on things like how you look today or if he would ever want to date somebody. Be kinda low key at first to make sure. But, do you even like this guy tho? Otherwise, yeah he seems to like you since he is being consistent in his interactions with you. I know for a fact that I would never interact with somebody I was not into. Also, this may be important: does he do this only to you specifically or to other girls as well?
