Is it weird to feel uncomfortable around your sibling?

Ok so, I have 3 older siblings but I'm only uncomfortable around one. It's my sister, she's 28 and I don't know I feel like because of our age difference (11 years) we never had a "typical sister relationship" I guess so that might be the reason. I feel like she acts more like a mother than a sister, minus the nurturing and caring components. She's kinda overprotective sometimes and definitely bossy. I hate being left alone with her because it always feels really awkward to me and if she says a joke or something for example I feel like I need to laugh even when it's not funny like out of necessity, or if she try's spending time with me or something... ugh I'm automatically ready to leave because I feel like she's a distant relative. It's only with her not my brothers and I don't know what the problem is. It could be our age difference but my oldest brother is older than her and we're still pretty close. So, is this weird and any tips? Thanks.

There is nothing inhertanly weird about it. Siblings are people too, and people can do things that make you not want to be around them The problem with siblings is, you usually have to deal with them in the name of family harmony. What I mean is, they can get away with so much more then the average "friend", before you can say "enough it enough, I don't want you in my life anymore". Therefore, you can have an uncomfortable relationship with them last much longer then you would allow a friend.

I have 5 siblings, and my relationships with them range from totally cut off, to uncomfortable like you, to good friends like you describe your other siblings. It's all normal.

its the age difference. You'll get closer when you're 21+ ... it begins to be less and less of an estrangement the older you get.
