He just texted me about how he likes me but I don't like him back. I don't know what to do... I want to still be friends with him but this is so awkward because I'm straight. I knew he's gay but I never thought he could ever like me like that... I want to tell him nicely that I don't like him back and still be friends with him.

Just be honest with him, which doesn't mean you have to be mean about it, (not suggesting you would be) just let him know that while you are flattered, that you are not interested in him like that. While I can't speak for him or other gay men, it is my understanding that they should and generally do respect the wishes of others, you might mention that he might do better to find another gay male which he might select as a boyfriend, in this way he doesn't have to try to "convert" anybody and they can just focus on being boyfriends. I know this is a different situation because he's a guy, but pretend he's a girl friend who has a crush on you. By that I mean let him down gently and say there's someone else out there for him. It's awkward that this is a gay crush, but he has feelings and emotions like everyone else. Think about how you would like to be turned down. Fair warning though, your friendship will probably take a hit. Unrequited love is tough.
